Baby names

Wobbling on chosen names.

We don't know if it's a boy or a girl, but both me and the OH made the decision a long time ago to choose two boys names and two girls names, then make the final decision when the baby is born to see which name 'suits' it best. Pretty rational and sane so far. Boys names are Luca and Sunny. Girls are Reenie and Georgie.
Now I'm 39 weeks and I am wobbling over these names we've both liked and have had chosen for ages. Trouble is, I feel bad telling the OH I might have changed my mind, as Reenie is a name we chose together in memory of his Mum (Irene).
I'm sure it's just my hormones and I will be wobbling about something else tomorrow, but argggghhh!
Any advice or opinions, please??

Luca is cute for a boy and for a girl I love Reenie, although I would be inclined to spell it Rene

Why not just give birth and exclaim loudly 'oh my, she is SUCH a Georgie don't you think?' He will probably be in such a state of euphoria that he will just agree.

Or do what we did and change our minds completely once they were born Grin

Luca is lovely, don't like sunny spelt like that.
Love both your girls names rene wouldn't be pronounced as reenie tho would it. Reenie is much nicer.

i like luca and georgie.

you could go for georgie and have irene rather than reenie as the middle name?

Georgie Irene is a lovely name. Then you could still call her Reenie later on if you decide it fits her personality.

Luca is lovely
Sunny is not my cup of tea for a boy, I prefer Sonny too.

Georgie is OK, a bit 'cutsey' and I would use Georgia/Georgina and nn Georgie.
Reenie is not my thing but the sentiment is lovely, what about using it as a middle name: Georgia Irene? Or just use Irene as first name?

I would use Georgia Irene, nn Georgie.

Like Luca. Sorry, but Sunny sounds like a girl's name to me.

Luca is great, sonny (not sunny) is good, georgie is cute (short for...?) but reenie is awful, sorry. It's an old lady nickname. Call her XXX Irene surname by all means but reenie is so bad.

We knew we were having a boy, narrowed it down to 2 names for weeks before he was born. He ended up with a name we had ruled out early in the pregnancy!
I love Georgie, and Luca is my favourite of your boys names.

Luka is lovely. Don't like the others, sorry.

Luca - gah.

Another vote for Georgie and Luca. Sonny is ok but not keen on reenie. Irene is a good middle name

Georgie and Luca. Not at all a fan of Sunny. I too like the idea of Irene in the middle.

Georgia or Georgina, both lovely but keep Georgie as a nn only.
Reenie is awful - use the proper name Irene.
Or Renée, as in the song "Walk Away Renée". Fabulous name and not used much.
Luca is streets ahead of Sunny, which is not really a name IMO and sounds like a girl's name.

Luca is nice. I think if you go for sunny it should be spelt sonny.

I have a Georgia who gets called Georgie but usually gets called George

I like Luca not really Sunny it seems a nn in itself to me ...

I met a baby Reenie and I thought it was really nice actually. Unusual, cute.

I agree with most of the others - Georgia/Georgie Irene works well and is a lovely tribute to your husband's mum.

I also like Luca

Thanks everyone. Some lovely advice here.
I spent most of last night on a proper wobbler crying over everything and nothing! I hope that's a sign something is gonna happen soon Confused.
I just thought it would be the end of the world if we didn't chose the right name for our baby and that it would spend years in therapy because of the name we gave it! What a drip I am.

Feel better today and think we are sticking to the original plan and original names. Sunny was a typo BTW. Should be Sonny, and I agree Sunny is a bit girly and not really a name at all!
We have discussed Georgia/Georgina but have both agreed we don't like these because of name association. (I went to school with a bitch called Georgina, and OH has a work colleague called Georgia who is the devil incarnate!)

Think we'll just stick the plan and see what he or she looks like when they decide to pop out. Grin

you've got time to practise and see which sounds better too before you settle for a name.

Oh I love Reenie! Haven't heard it for years (a few of my Nana's friends were Reenie).

It is a bit old lady but if horrors like Ethel are coming back, why not Reenie - which is nice?

puts Reenie on the list for imaginary dd3

Georgiana if you don't like Georgina or Georgia? Bit too long perhaps.

But Reenie isn't a name!

It's either short for Irene, when Irene is pronounced with three syllables, Eye-ree-nee.

Or it's a wrong alternative pronunciation of Renée.
