Week overdue, STILL no boys name...

Currently a week overdue, I wanted Duncan but DH says no, and no to every other suggestion I've made! Rude if you ask me, I'm the one who'll be going through the labour and have put up with pregnancy...!

Will take any suggestions, just not Charlie, Jack, Max, Oliver, George, Alfie, Harry or any other name that is ridiculously popular. Great names just don't want him to be the 5th in his class!

PLEASE HELP!!

Nathaniel - my favourite ever name, sadly it didn't suit either of my DDs Grin Please use it!

That's funny as it's actually a family name! Just worry everyone will shorten it to Nathan...

Nathaniel is lovely I would shorten to Nate.

How about Elias (Eli), Tobias (Toby), Daniel?

Peter is, I think, another lovely name that is often overlooked. Don't know any under the age of 30!

This time 4 years ago I was a week overdue, so you have my sympathy.
We named that overdue baby Nicholas, which (I think) is one of the best boys names ever.

If I wasn't having a boy I'd be having a Jonah... Fabulous name and I was slightly disappointed when I found out it was a girl just because I had my heart set on the name.

Oh how sweet DS is waiting for you to choose a name (tries to look on bright side of flowerygirl ready to pop).

Nathaniel or Nate if you dislike Nathan?

David, Ewan, Stephen

or come up with something outlandish and insist to DH that that is THE name. Insist in this especially during labour. He will then be happy to settle for Duncan Wink

Curious: what has DH suggested?

Report
flowerygirl · 29/03/2013 18:56

The ONLY suggestion DH has come up with is Truman! We tested it out on family/friends and they all absolutely hated it so I said we couldn't have it, but he is still keen! Or William as it's his Dad's name but I think it's too popular.

Currently 8 days overdue now.. urgh. Don't know if it will be a boy or girl, but girl's name was sorted before we were even trying for a baby! Luckily he agreed on that one at least!

Hmm - Truman/Duncan - so we are looking for a compromise between those two?

Seeker did a thread a couple of weeks ago about good old fashioned names that aren't too popular, at the moment. I'll see if I can find it.

(I like Duncan, BTW. What is wrong with him!)

I have to say, I like Truman. Do you like it? Family and friends will suck it up if they have to.

Of soontobe's list I like Lyall and Elliot.

Thanks for that SanityClause!

I did like Truman but now it has got out to everyone we liked it, all we get are 'hahahaha no not seriously?' comments so it's completely ruined the name for me! Learnt our lesson, next kid we won't tell a soul and just go for what we like.

One name we agree on is Hunter, I absolutely love it, good strong name. But think there will be a lot of raised eyebrows as it's a very hard name for a baby (but great for a man, IMO!) What do you all think?

Go with Duncan! It's a fantastic name a bit like
Dominic that's never been faddy.
He'll change his mind after - just start calling the baby Duncan :-)

How about Declan?

Don't like Hunter, it's a bit pretentious IMHO sorry x

I prefer Hunter to Truman in all honesty.

How about Dexter or Holden?

Glad you have a name sorted for a DD!
