And we will call her Evie for short. Cute or too much of an old woman's name?
confused

Love it smile

Old lady's name!

pigletpower Fri 29-Mar-13 11:08:20

I love Audrey not too keen on Evelyn. Evie is a little overused shall we say? Audrey Eve goes well.I prefer single sylable [sp?!] middle names.

MidnightMasquerader Fri 29-Mar-13 18:59:09

In all honesty...? The world officially has enough Evies. wink

Audrey Evelyn, on the other hand, is lovely.

MortifiedAdams Fri 29-Mar-13 19:01:42

Love Evelyn Audrey however isnt it pronounce ever-lin? Sorry, just seems odd to get Evie from that and think Ever would be a better, more natural and more unique NN. Not that you can particularly control NNs.

MidnightMasquerader Fri 29-Mar-13 19:04:10

It can be pronounced Eve-lyn, although that's less common.

In any case, Evie is a common shortening for Evelyn (and extraordinarily popular).

pigletpower Fri 29-Mar-13 19:04:35

But wouldn't Ever just sound like a Cockney saying Heather?!wink

MortifiedAdams Fri 29-Mar-13 19:06:50

Depends if you are anywhere near London. Where I am it wouldnt.

EeyoresGloomyPlace Fri 29-Mar-13 19:09:19

Dd2s name is Evelyn, I have loved it for years and never ever met another. Only upon joining MN did I learn how apparently 'over used' it is. sad DH calls her Evie so I guess that makes us even more common. Still never met another in RL though.

OP your combination is beautiful.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Fri 29-Mar-13 21:49:53

Lovely but agree that Audrey Evelyn is even better!

anonymosity Fri 29-Mar-13 21:59:22

I like the names, but should point out there are a ton of "Evie"s out there.

Ruprekt Fri 29-Mar-13 22:01:24

Is she 55?

Thought not.

Both names are so dreary imho.

Genre of Barbara, Susan, Audrey, Evelyn, Dorothy, Anne etc

So many pretty names out there.

HaDeHaDeHa Fri 29-Mar-13 22:03:32

My initial thought was "what gender is this baby?". I thought it was an inter-war multi-gender type of name.

HaDeHaDeHa Fri 29-Mar-13 22:05:08

Perhaps "multi-gender" isn't quite the right term (!) but hopefully you know what I mean!

I may also be confusing Audrey aiwth Aubrey but if I can so might anyone else.

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist Fri 29-Mar-13 22:08:30

For a boy, maybe. For a girl, not so much.

steppemum Fri 29-Mar-13 22:31:38

I have to say that when I read the thread title I wasn't sure if the baby was boy or a girl.

Evelyn is usually used as a girl's name, but it used to be a common boys name, ( Evelyn Waugh) and audrey is also unisex name.

So personally I wouldn't put them together.

juneybean Fri 29-Mar-13 22:34:26

I love it!

CrackerJackShack Sun 31-Mar-13 07:47:00

Evie is common? I've never in my life met an Evie. confused

EeyoresGloomyPlace Sun 31-Mar-13 16:03:29

crackerjack me neither (except my own!). Maybe it depends where you live? Use the name, its lovely smile

VodIsGod Sun 31-Mar-13 18:54:24

I know two girls aged under 5 called Evelyn, shortened to Evie... And I know countless other girls called Eve, Eva, Ava zzzzzZzzzzz

Floralnomad Sun 31-Mar-13 18:58:45

Audrey is a horrible ,dowdy name .Evelyn is lovely and I only know one Evie as well.

lottiegarbanzo Sun 31-Mar-13 19:36:30

Lovely, that way around.

Evie is very popular amongst the under fives but rarely from Evelyn I think.
