Zachary- like a lot
George - less keen on

Poppy - love
Freya- like a lot
Daisy- like a lot
Elizabeth - would you use full name or nicknames?
Matilda - less keen on
Violet...hmm, not sure, struggling to get past violet beuregard in willy wonka

Thank you! Re Elizabeth I quite like Eliza or Lizzy as a nn but do prefer the full Elizabeth. Thanks for your comments Smile

Luke is by far my favourite from the boys' list.
I really like Daisy, Elizabeth and Violet but I don't dislike any of the girls' names tbh.

Jacob - I have an irrational dislike of this name. It's the 'cub' sound (local dialect) that puts me off, I think Confused
Max - love this!
Isaac - great name, love nn Zac.
Luke - I don't like this.
Zachary - I prefer Isaac.
George - fab name!

Poppy - I'm not keen, it's too twee (and I generally quite like twee names)
Freya - too close to Freda.
Daisy - ok. Quite cute.
Elizabeth - My favourite girls name ever! Love love love this!
Matilda - I really like this. I love Matty for a girl too.
Violet - too close to violence.

My favourites are George, Max and Isaac for a boy and Elizabeth and Matilda for a girl.

Elizabeth's my favourite for a girl. For a boy George, Jacob and Luke are all good.

Thanks for the comments. Think my favourites are Isaac and Luke at the moment. But tend to get myself too confused when thinking about girls names, so might leave thinking about that until after 20 week scan as I may not have to.

Anyone else find naming boys so much easier?

Boys are definately easier than girls! I actually love all your names except Daisy. My top picks would be...

  1. Matilda & Isaac
  2. Elizabeth & Luke
  3. George & violet

    Good luck! :-)

I have a Luke, love it. Also like Isaac, Zachary and Jacob in that order.

Dislike all the girls' names apart from Elizabeth which is timeless and lovely. The others too "little girls" for me.

.....and Archie is dreadful, think Alfie etc. Sorry.

Haha don't be sorry OH said the same so it's out anyway and it's good to hear others opinions, I just thought it was cute, maybe I can name a cat Archie or something.

Go for Isaac (DT2). You will get it spelt wroong all the time and never be able to buy mugs with his name on but it means 'He who laughs'. That's lovely.
I like Violet best as girls name.

(3 Archies in my Isaac's class BTW)

Thanks for your comment merlypuss, Isaac is definitely my top choice at the moment it's lovely. Do you ever shorten Isaac?

Like Isaac and Max, Elizabeth, Poppy and Freya best.

They're all attractive names on your lists.

Will you come back here after the 20 week scan?

Report
MERLYPUSS · 27/03/2013 17:28

No. He will, no doubt be shortened when at senior school. An uncle calls him Izzy - which I quite like and I like Zac too (part of the reason we chose it was the shortened versions are 'acceptable').
We have a Thomas too and that never gets shortened except by the same uncle.
They both have unrelated nick names.

Clargo thanks for the suggestions, love Grace and Lucas from your suggestions and they have been added to my list.

Donkeys will definitely be back after I know gender as then it will be more fun I think (although at the moment I'm now dreaming of a baby boy called Isaac Smile)
