Love the name for either. I'd think boy now as we know a baby robin, but before that thought of using it ourselves as a girl's name.

I wouldn't assume tbh. I know one in his 40s. In America it is popular for women of that age, but over here, I literally only one and he's a man. I think I'd guess girl now if it were a baby but I'd definitely check and not assume.

I would think girl as I think it's used more for girls nowadays. Although I suppose if I was going to meet a forty year old plus Robin, I would probably assume male as it's only recently it's become a lot more popular for girls.

I would have, years ago, assumed Robin = boy, Robyn = girl but my friend has a little girl Robin (named after a female american friend) and now I wouldn't assume either way :) She's a lovely little girl and if there's any confusion over the spelling (nursery teachers kept trying to make her spell it with a Y despite her parents telling them a million times it was with an i) she says it's spelt the same way as the bird with a very 'End of' look about her

We're thinking of it for boy and I was really surprised when I searched it on here that lots of people would think of it for a girl.

I'd never heard of it for a girl before that so it's heartening that people think at least 50/50.
