Think you've decided on a name? Check out where it ranks on the official list of the most popular baby names first.
What else could Ellie be a NN for apart from Eleanor?
Elspeth, Elodie, Eloise.
I know one whose full name is Mary Ellen.
Elizabeth? Any name really beginning with "El".
ElissaEliseIsabelle (I've heard of Isabellas being nick named Ella before)Ellen
ElviraElspethElizaElodieAnabelIsobelMelodyKellyHelen(a)StellaAnything with 'el' in it really.
I am willing to bet you won't want to call your baby this, but.... Elaine.
KikkiK I was considering Eleanor, but know of an Ellie that I wouldn't want to name DC 'after'. Can't ask what Ellie is short for, but presumed Eleanor as I couldn't think of anything else. I think Eleanor will have to go on the 'no' list.
I have taught quite a few that are just Ellie/Elly; not short for anything.
Eloise (i love) or Elle (ellie not short for but still works).
IME most Ellies are Elizabeth.
My DD is called Ellie as a nickname, her name is Emily but DS couldn't say it when he was younger and its sort of stuck!
