We're not Welsh, I just think it's lovely. It's easy to pronounce, easy to spell, and not too long.

Is this just hormonal madness or is it a nice name?

It's a place in California, where Arachnaphobia was filmed. It's actually a very nice town.

Umm, does it not sound / look like Cumbria.

Not keen, it sounds like a place on the Archers.

Is there a cheese called cambria? why does it make me think of cheese?

It's a place in Spain as well I think.

In some accents it would sound awful.

I'm not keen. What is it about the name you like, if you're wanting suggestions? The sound, the look, the meaning?

I thought it was a made up name - a smoosh of Cambridge and Cumbria. Sorry!

MustafaCake · 20/03/2013 12:58

Terrible, sorry!

It makes me think Camber - which is something to do with the arch of a road.

Only makes me think Wales because my dad a model railways based in Meirionnydd when I was growing up

Would be weird as a
Name IMHO

This is what I would think of OP Cambria

I think they finally sold/sank the old rust bucket in the early 00's.

Bit odd for a childs name imvho.

Cambria is a feminine welsh name (albeit very rare), deriving from the classical name for Wales...so not made up....

I immediately think of the Latin name for Wales, and I think it's quite a euphonous name - can see why you like it.
It's very unusual for a person's name though, so I think although it's easy to say and spell you'd still get a lot of baffled looks, or people asking if you were Welsh... if that doesn't concern you, and it seems to suit her when she emerges, go for it.

Leslie, because it sounds like camembert.

OP, how about Claudia or Amber?

Isn't the place in Spain Cantabria?

Coheed & Cambria are a rock group.
My first thought, and then how much it looked like Cumbria.

Made me think of 'Cambrian rocks' so I looked it up and, em, discovered they are Welsh rocks. It's a nice sound so if it's a real name go for it.

I think it's lovely. But then my aunts middle name is Blodwen and my dad wanted to call me Myfanwy. My (English) mother won that battle.

I think it is a beautiful name. You should use it if you want, even if strangers on the Internet cannot distinguish between that and Camembert!

TwoBoiledEggs · 20/03/2013 13:31

Isn't it a type font? Or am I thinking of something similar?
