We've had a little girl and struggling to find the perfect name. We have two boys already, George and William.

Our short list is :-

Which do you think is best and any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Poppy or Matilda.

Lucy. Is this a Famous Five thing?

cavell Wed 20-Mar-13 11:26:18

I thought Lucy, too.

Or, from your choices, Matilda. Annabelle at a push.

Out of your choices I'd go for Matilda. But other traditional girls names would work well with George and William, eg Charlotte, Eleanor, Lucy, Catherine, Emma...

notimefors Wed 20-Mar-13 11:32:05

I like Poppy. George William and Poppy.

Indith Wed 20-Mar-13 11:33:52

From your list Matilda. Any traditional names would fit really but does it matter if it doesn't "fit"? Name your dd to suit her not her brothers smile.

My boys are William and Arthur. Dd is Margaret but mostly known by the diminutive Daisy (when not called Mouselet).

I am being facetious, but why do the names have to "fit"? In your place, I would go for a lovely name that I liked. Good luck!

Elizabeth? Victoria? Mary? Anne? Margaret?

LeslieWink1e Wed 20-Mar-13 11:57:57

Annabel or Juliet go well with William and George
Don't like Poppy, but Penelope would go with William and George and you could use Poppy for short. Just Poppy is not enough beside William and George. I like names to go too. It's not a foolish idea.

lol at suggestion of georgina! EH! George and Georgina! Is your Dad George Foreman?

Ivy or Matilda - love them both!

hatsybatsy Wed 20-Mar-13 13:23:58

Annabelle / Annabel is nice

Other possibles

Harriet (slight bias here - but I think it goes well!)

Thumbwitch Wed 20-Mar-13 13:27:03

oh hatsy! I also thought Harriet and Alice, straight off! grin

I like Annabelle best of your choices, Rainbow - then Matilda, then Poppy and I don't really like Ivy at all.

I know someone with a William and George and they have Martha.

We have very similar taste! We've used one of your boys names (as a middle name) & had dc2 been a boy we would have used the other. As it is,bump is a girl & we are planning to use Matilda (with Grace as a middle name).

So I would (obviously!) say Matilda smile

jojane Wed 20-Mar-13 18:44:11

Well I have a George and an Alfie and our dd is Matilda. We have a big book called George and Matilda mouse so they obviously go together!!

Matilda is lovely and would be my choice

congrats smile

I like all the names on your list - Poppy is very popular ATM I think.

Congrats too!

HappyJustToBe Wed 20-Mar-13 19:16:57

Charlotte or Emily.

Love Annabelle.

rufusnine Wed 20-Mar-13 19:17:52

And I thought Clara . . . before I saw your favs . . all ok but Poppy doesn't 'go' with the boys names as well as the others - imo but if you love it go for it

mummanj Wed 20-Mar-13 20:49:39

Congratulations. I have a Poppy and George. I've noticed that Poppy doesn't go down that well on MN but in real life I get loads of lovely comments about her name and when George was born people said the names went together nicely. :-)
