Would you think boy or girl?

TheNoodlesIncident Sun 24-Feb-13 22:41:52

But weren't all names new and unusual once?

I wouldn't know whether Texas was masculine or feminine though (I would think "pony" first). I had same problem with Jordan when that became more popular.

effyzm Sun 24-Feb-13 22:23:48

I'd think girl. I've heard a lot worse. At least it's spelt the correct way. Nothing worse than a parent changing the spelling to 'their own way' x

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsase Sun 24-Feb-13 22:12:08

And if I found out it was a girl I'd think 'porn star'. Sorry.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsase Sun 24-Feb-13 22:11:30

I would think boy. And feel sad.

GreenShadow Sun 24-Feb-13 22:11:01

I don't usually like unconventional names, but for once, I quite like this.

But agree that the sex isn't obvious.

wigglesrock Sun 24-Feb-13 22:10:50

I have known a male Texas before `twas a cat but a boy definitely.

MatchsticksForMyEyes Sun 24-Feb-13 22:09:47

Was just going to post that myself Trazzletoes grin

Probably 'yellow rose of Texas' , Viviennemary. I would think boy- and what a shame for the child.

Anjou Sun 24-Feb-13 22:06:36

I know a girl called Texa. It may sound a bit hmm to some, but Texa is an island of the Inner Hebrides and she's from the highlands, so I think it works. Texas is def not my cup of tea though.

Why is Bram considered odd? It's just short for Abraham isn't it?

Viviennemary Sun 24-Feb-13 22:04:40

I'd first think the parents were nuts. Then I would think girl but don't know why.

roundtoit Sun 24-Feb-13 22:02:46

i would think poor kid going through school with a name like that. But to be honest i am not into all these arty farty names for children. Its hard enough in life without the added burden of a stupid name.

nectarini1983 Sun 24-Feb-13 21:55:15

Quirky! There wont be two in her class at school that's for sure.

DottieDaisy Sun 24-Feb-13 21:37:24

Boy,I like it. There was a couple on location location location who had a baby boy called Texas, they were very cool and arty!

montmartre Sun 24-Feb-13 21:31:22

What the heck is wrong with Bram? At least it is a real name for a person, unlike Texas hmm

Trazzletoes Sun 24-Feb-13 21:29:11

Makes me think of Texas Pete from Superted. That was his name, wasn't it?

Hassled Sun 24-Feb-13 21:28:21

I think I'd think girl - on the basis that aren't all US states female? Like boats, or summat?

BigGiantCowWithAKnockKnockTail Sun 24-Feb-13 21:27:21

Was she conceived in Texas? I can honestly think of NO other reason to inflict such a name on a child. Not that even that would be a good one.

MortifiedAdams Sun 24-Feb-13 21:25:34

Yup Bram, Emma

Rivergirly Sun 24-Feb-13 21:23:03

I'm with I heart - think they took inspiration from Texas on Hollyoaks. Also have a fully grown male friend called Dallas and oddly it really suits him!!

Mononoke Sun 24-Feb-13 21:21:56

Boy, I think Tex sounds quite nice as a nn.

surroundedbyblondes Sun 24-Feb-13 21:20:01

There's a recent baby boy in my SILs family named Texas. His parents have genuinely explained that their inspiration came from an on-line poker game hmm

akaemmafrost Sun 24-Feb-13 21:19:34

Bram? As in Stoker? The author of Dracula? shock

raisah Sun 24-Feb-13 21:16:45

awful to be named after the state George W Bush is from. What were they thinking?

CarlingBlackMabel Sun 24-Feb-13 21:14:09

Part Boy, part calculator?

IHeartKingThistle Sun 24-Feb-13 21:13:50

There was a girl on hollyoaks called Texas. Might that have been the inspiration? !
