Great (but unusual)
DDs middle names are Chihiro (spirited away) and Ariel (The little mermaid). We wanted to give DD1 Chihiro as a first name but felt it was too unusual

Not very highbrow but DD1 is Matilda from Roald Dahl and DD2 will be Serafina from Northern Lights Smile

On a more serious note, I highly admire Septimus Hodge from Tom Stoppard's Arcadia. I would consider Septimus as a middle name.

I would love to call a boy Heathcliff, but I'd never get that past DH!!

I have Charlie and Matilda. I only realised the link belatedly but I am pleased with it! Only problem is we are ttc and I don't like George, James, Danny, Sophie... What to do??

Fruitpastille I think DC3 needs to be Willy.

fruitpastille Boy?

I would love a DD called Lyra, I think it sounds so lovely. Feminine, but soft at the same time.

fruitpastille · 23/02/2013 19:37

Ooh, we had Lyra on our girl list for DD but didn't quite dare. Can anyone remember the name of the boy in the Witches? I can't check at the mo!

Oh I've always wanted a Bathsheba. And a Tess.

I named DD after my favorite childhood book...initially only my sister clicked when I told her the name I'd chosen, but it's quite a rare book. My mum bought DD an original copy of the book (now out of print) at great expense.

I always wanted to call my first DD Phebe after the character in Eight Cousins. But she I was pregnant, Friends was really big, and I worried everyone would think I'd got my inspiration from that. (I'm such a cultural snob, I know, and I really liked Friends at the time! Confused)

So, she is not called Phebe, and I regret that, a little, now.

Not Tess, kelda, she was so wet.

But Bathsheba was great. And Gabriel Oak? Phwoooarr! I'd do him!

The name of boy in The Witches is never revealed IIRC.. So problem sorted, just don't name the baby..

curiousgeorgie · 23/02/2013 21:11

The boy in the witches is Luke.. Lucas I think x

I liked Matilda and Charlie but DH not keen.

Report
SLVC · 23/02/2013 21:19

curiousgeorgie He's only Luke in the film, not the book, so wouldn't count as literary..

curiousgeorgie I love Serafina (the character and the name) and also Lyra.

Don't know the sex yet but I like Bernice (Bernie or Bea for short) for a girl. Its from a book I read when I was at school Bernice bobs her hair by Scott Fitzgerald. EVERYONE without exception has hated it so far.

Have my pregnancy hormones sent me completely mad? Does anyone like it at all? I thought it sounded a little French/Sophisticated and a bit cheeky tomboy at the same time?

DS1's middle name is Kit (named after Kit Marlowe - so playwright rather than character ) and DS2's middle name is Constantine, after John Constantine (from the Hellblazer graphic novels).

I'm a huge His Dark Materials fan, so like the thought of using a name from that. Both Lyra & Serafina are very pretty, and we considered Stellamaris (a variation of Stelmaria) for a DD. probably wouldn't go for Metatron though. Grin

noisytoys DD2 was very nearly Chihiro Smile

Her middle name is Violet named after Lemony Snickett.
