Help finding a first name to go with our 'unusual' surname!

Hi everyone,

We are having our first baby in the summer and have started to give some thought to names. The only issue is that we have an unusual surname - Sienesi (pronounced Sirneesea, its Italian although we are not) and we like more unusual first names.

Do you think we would be bonkers with some of these choices:
Boys:
Cole Sienesi
Clay Sienesi
Tate Sienesi
Jake Sienesi
Blake Sienesi
Noah Sienesi

Girls
Wren Sienesi
Avery Sienesi
Molly Sienesi
Jessie Sienesi (is it too much to have lots of i's and e's)?

Struggling more with the girls names.

Any good suggestions???

I agree that Jessie sounds a bit odd and Wren doesn't sound great either imo.

Jude has gone on the boy list. Still struggling with girls though...although I did come across Isla which I really like but also read it is getting more popular.

I cant seem to find many single syllable girls names I like and have a tendency to add 'y' on to names so that may be a loosing battle.

Wren and Avery are both beautiful. One thing I would suggest is a first name he/she won't need to spell for people (might be a slight issue with Isla). I had a surname I constantly had to spell for people (lost it now i'm married, phew!) but luckily a simple first name. My poor mum has an unusual first name as well as the surname and can't even book the hairdressers or a takeaway without having the faff of spelling out her whole name!

I'd go for an italian name. eg if i hear wren sienesi, I'm confused about what i've just heard, but if it's matched with an italian name, or a name that works in italy, it just makes more sense. clara sienesi, giulia sienesi, claudia sienesi
for a boy, i don't like any of your suggestions. clay is the worst. sorry.

I think Gin is onto something there. There are many girls' names that are Italian but easy to pronounce in English that would be nice with your surname. Or even names like Olivia that are not Italian but would sound very nice.

For boys, how about the sort of names you would associate with an Italian community in NY for instance:
Anthony
Dominic
Joseph
Rocco
Damien

Or something more here and now like Theo, Milo, Arlo, Jago, Oscar, Roman -- names that have a more international feel to them.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Whilst we can see the logic with going for something Italian sounding I have not heard 1 British person pronounce our surname correctly!! If anything people go down the Asian sounding and come out with Cyanisi!! So feels a bit pointless! Will keep hunting though!!
