Very over used at the moment, how about Eliza or Eloise? Similar but not as common as the other two.

If I have to choose, Bella. Belinda is a cool name.

Bella - but I am biased as I have one grin

BusyTiredAndLoveIt Sat 09-Feb-13 23:01:48

Ella wins because of Ella Fitzgerald.

Louboo2245 Sat 09-Feb-13 15:32:07

My DD's name is shortened to Ella, but much to my DS's annoyance I call her Ella Bella Big Bum grin so in short I love them both.

Eleanor and Isabelle are both lovely, but live, love, love Mirabel.

CARNATTY14 Sat 09-Feb-13 15:04:05

I prefer Bella, it is just that little bit more unusual.

Also in Greek "Ella" means 'come' - it's a rude way of calling to someone 'ella, ella'. I lived in Greece and heard it a zillion times.

Estelle is the newborn crown princess of Sweden. Lovely name! What about Mirabella?

Ella, but like Stella best of other suggestions (biased).

MidnightMasquerader Sat 09-Feb-13 07:41:16

They're both overused, in all honesty. Do you have a third or forth option in mind?

MoonHare Fri 08-Feb-13 21:25:18

I too think of Bella Emburg - it makes me think plump and plain. So Ella is better but it's everywhere.

HouseOfBears Fri 08-Feb-13 20:57:57

Ella I think. But I consider both of them nicknames rather than "proper" names, and would go for Isabella or Eleanor myself.

Bella is a bossy Tweenie!

TidyDancer Fri 08-Feb-13 20:05:45

Bella is too nickname-ish for me. It's most commonly seen as a NN for Isabella. Ella is pretty and more of a name in its own right (not that Bella isn't, but is certainly more often a nickname).

Mummynotmum Fri 08-Feb-13 20:03:53

Under my umbr-Ella Ella Ella etc... Bella, for me...grin

YellowAndGreenAndRedAndBlue Fri 08-Feb-13 20:02:29

Bella is a tweenie, so Ella wins by default.

Floralnomad Fri 08-Feb-13 20:02:28

Not keen on either but of the two Ella . If you call Bella in a park near here you'd be mobbed by Labradors.

catladycourtney1 Fri 08-Feb-13 20:01:25

It's a shame but when I hear Bella now I automatically think Twilight.

Shybairns Fri 08-Feb-13 19:59:11

For some reason I think Bella sounds like a dogs name?!

Ella is a bit meh.

Liking Stella or Estelle
