Ella Rose

Scarlett Rose

ThedementedPenguin Tue 05-Feb-13 12:17:16

Oh that's a very tough choice for me. They are both gorgeous names.

I think for me it would be Ella Rose.

But it is a tough choice.

Gwennan Tue 05-Feb-13 12:19:14

Tough one - both are pretty names but Ella is ubiquitous and Scarlett Rose sounds a bit twee. I would use a different middle name with Scarlett (one that isn't a noun) as Scarlett Rose sounds a bit like a description.

ditsydoll Tue 05-Feb-13 12:21:13

Thanks ladies, I can't actually think of a middle name for scarlett other than rose. Any ideas?

JiltedJohnsJulie Tue 05-Feb-13 12:24:29

Scarlett rose for me.

poppydaisy Tue 05-Feb-13 13:09:22

Ella is a little overused round here, I'm afraid. Scarlett is more interesting but always makes me think of a little scar.... So I'm not that keen on either, sorry.

forevergreek Tue 05-Feb-13 13:13:46

I think With Ella rose they same length and syllables can sound a hit choppy

What about:
Eliana rose
Elisa rose

Ella rosemary
Ella something rose

I know a few children called Scarlett rose. So it's v common combination I that bothers you

Scarlett theodora
Scarlett iris
Scarlett elsa

Scarlett does make me think Scarlett fever though! Sorry..

Prefer Scarlett too. Also Stella and Serena if you're interested in other S names. Don't think Scarlett Rose is great. How about
Scarlett Jane or Scarlett Hope?

ThedementedPenguin Tue 05-Feb-13 13:14:10

My friend called her daughter Scarlett Jane which I think it's very nice.

ThedementedPenguin Tue 05-Feb-13 13:14:51

X post. Great minds smile

DontmindifIdo Tue 05-Feb-13 13:18:52

Prefer Scarlett, but not with Rose, agree it sounds like a discription!

Alternative middle names that work with Scarlett:
Scarlett Ruth
Scarlett Grace
Scarlett Hope
Scarlett Jane
Scarlett Marie

Thanks for the advice ladies, would Scarlett Ava sound ok? Our surname is a common 3 syllable surname.

HouseOfBears Tue 05-Feb-13 21:35:05

Scarlett Ava is lovely. Heaps nicer than Rose. As long as your surname doesn't start with a D!

pinkyredrose Tue 05-Feb-13 21:37:45

Scarlett Rose is lovely. Ella is so popular, Scarlett is a bit different.

pinkyredrose Tue 05-Feb-13 21:39:20

Scarlett Ava makes me think of Scarlett anus, 'red anus'. sorry blush

PuffPants Tue 05-Feb-13 21:40:47

Why can nobody think of any middle name other than Rose these days? Get yourself a baby names book OP.

almostanotherday Tue 05-Feb-13 21:57:32

Scarlet hope is nice

Elina rose I like if thats any good for you?

pinkyredrose Tue 05-Feb-13 22:23:36

I think Rose is a beautiful name. At least it's not as common as May/Mae!!

Rhubarbgarden Tue 05-Feb-13 22:39:45

I prefer Ella despite its popularity. I really dislike Scarlett.

mrstowers Tue 05-Feb-13 22:48:09

Aren't Scarlett and Rose both the colour red?

FranglaisMaman Thu 07-Feb-13 14:34:54

Ella Rose (as RG said, despite its popularity)

massagegirl Thu 07-Feb-13 18:22:59

People can think of other middle names puff but rose is very pretty and goes with a lot. I think they are all nice names op, depends if you are planning on calling her by full name or mainly first name. I really like Scarlett, good strong female name but pretty. No need to buy a name book when you can come here for advise!

ditsydoll Thu 07-Feb-13 18:31:10

Thanks everyone. I'm still stuck on which to choose, maybe we will have to wait and see what baby looks more like when he/she arrives. I may never have to choose as we already have a boys name. I am aware that scarlett rose basically means red rose but I don't think that's the worst thing in the world and I never even really use my middle name. The only thing putting me off scarlett is if anyone shortens it to scar. X

BabyRoger Thu 07-Feb-13 18:33:18

I prefer Scarlett too - although Ella is nice.

Scarlet Iris or Scarlett Grace is lovely.

GW297 Thu 07-Feb-13 19:55:18

Ella Rose is beautiful.
