Baby names

picking a name for 4th baby..think i'm losing it! help!

am expecting 4th baby soon. already have 3 girls. might be 'outing' myself here but don't think their names are too radically unusual so here goes:

Aurora Elizabeth
Nancy Jane
Pearl Alexandra

DH and I did argue a bit over choosing them but compromised (and i will admit i did get my own way quite a bit). I love the names we picked. they all suit them very well. HOWEVER we can't agree on names for this baby. We have not found out gender. Here are the names I like

Rita - dh says it reminds him of Rita Ora that pop singer. i think it's cute and fun.
Isadora - dh says dora the explorer
Valentina - dh just says ridiculous name
Santana - i will admit this is a new addition possibly due to watching Glee with eldest dd in a hormone fuelled state. i think its v v pretty. dh says we cannot possibly under any circumstances name a baby after Glee.

DH choices are

Iona - which I think i could possibly grow to like
Isis - not keen
Ivy - already know 3 under 4
Sophia - not even kidding very nice name but there are about 5 in school and 4 in nursery

Don't even get me started on boys names. The only one I like REMOTELY is Alexander because it's a family name and would nn. Lexy.

Any ideas would be welcomed. Opinions, compromise etc!

From your choices, I like Valentina, but what would you call her for short? Val? Tina? Both if those are a little unfashionable at the moment (sorry to any Vals and Tina's out there!) On your other name choices I'm afraid I agree with your DH, especially Santana, would sound like you were a groupie who named her after the band.

Of your DH's choices, I like Iona. Isis is a bit too new agey, Ivy reminds me of Ivy off Corrie and Sophia is lovely, but as you say, very common.

Your other 3 DD's have very different names, you don't seem to have any theme or thread that links them? How did you choose those?

I'm with you in despair of boys names, I felt the same and thankfully had a girl! Re Lexy, I thought that was a girls nickname?

Your girls have lovely named! To be honest I don't like any of yours and of your dp's list I like Iona. Here's a random selection of names..
Una
Ariella
Bonnie
Carmen
Camille
Ziva
Harriet
Zuri
Olive
I think Aurora, Nancy, Pearl & Camille sounds great!

Erroll
Fifer (I kinda made this up but I love it!)
Everett
Struan
Emmett
Philip
Fletcher
Flynn
Rupert
Aurora, Nancy, Pearl & Flynn sounds best. Think it needs to be a single syllable for the right flow. Not that that really matters I suppose! :-D

I love Isadora. We were going to have that or Dorothea or Theodora. Nicknames would have been Dora, Dotty or in the case of Theodora, Teddy or Thea.

In fact we are having a boy and considering Alexander with the either of the traditional diminutives Sacha or Sandy.

I have a Pearl, who could have been a Nancy - I love your names!
I love Rita from your list, and it has been on my list for years, but Rita Ora has put me off totally.
I think Isadora is too close to Aurora. Valentina is perfect - I love it.
Other names on my list are Mildred, Sally, Augusta, Jean, Prudence, Myrtle, Beryl, Thomasina, Valerie, Angela - some of those would fit beautifully - I especially like Prudence, Jean and Augusta in your sibset.

You already have lovely names for your DDs. Don't have Isadora with Aurora, too matchy matchy.
How about Mabel? Edith?

Did DH get any say in the first 3 DDs' names? he sounds very discouraging about your choices of which I have to say I like Valentina best, very refreshing to see something so different! What's not to like!

Of his suggestions I probably like Iona best followed by Iris. Oh sorry misread, no not Isis.

So:
Valentina
Iona

Other posters' ideas:
Camille (beautiful!)
Theodora (Teddy, too cute!)

My suggestions:
Iris
Tabitha
Serena
Oh and wild card, Pandora

For boys, Alexander or Keir.

Agree Ryan would sound good.

Several mentions of Casper on MN lately, also Milo which I think would fit nicely with his sisters' names.

It's so hard finding names you both agree on... I love Isadora!

So, for boys names that go with your names I'd suggest:
Rollo
Orlando
Raphael
Otis
Milo (as Donkeys suggests) is also lovely

For girl's:
Anastasia
Allegra
Luna
Jemima

Good luck!

I like your DDs names. Not as keen on your ideas for no. 4 though.

Rita - doesn't say cute and fun to me. Anita instead?
Isadora - I agree with 'dora the explorer'
Valentina - I like this one the best
Santana - this just makes me think of Carlos Santana but I have never seen Glee.
Iona - I do like this but there's the whole 'I own a......' fill in the blank, thing though.
Isis - I agree with you and am not keen
Ivy - I actually LOVE this but it's obviously very common where you live and I can see why that would put you off.
Sophia - I don't think this is in the same league as your DDs names.

Others have made some lovely suggestions; Camille and Tabitha are especially nice. How about Ursula, Verity, Ramona?

I like Alexander as a boys name.

Best wishes.

thank you everyone. you all have lovely taste in names esp you clara bean ;) actually my dd's names are all personal faves mixed with familiy names influence from both sides so dh did get a say if you know what i mean.

I did actually think of Anita but it is my mum's name and she dislikes it for some reason, i'm on slightly spanish sounding kick for DC4? God knows why? ? I love Ramona, Carmen and also I like Luisa. DH likes Ramona and Luisa too. Am also considering Mara & Vida. eg Vida Rose, Mara Rose possibly.

DessieLou - love Emmett

Pondering - ooh do you have any more Brazilian names?
I also like Ana - simple but pronounced like Ahhh-na. But DH says he will have a lifetime of people saying it wrong and it sounds pretentious Hmm

Edie. Very cute. It's the old fashioned feel without losing it's cuteness. I could imagine a cheeky one called Edie.
Coconutty - Luca is such a lovely name. Unfortunately every bloody person and their mother has called their kid Luca round here. Girls and boys. It's the new Oliver methinks. Such a cool name though.
