Got boy name sorted
Girl was going to be Martha but one of my best friends is having a baby before me and Martha is also her fav. So what else might I like? Strong but pretty. Quite like Thea?

Forget me nots we have similar tastes! Orla we can't have, Elsa I like but OH doesn't. Basking he can up with phoebe this morning, I'm mulling it over! Soooo hard as we were both in agreement on Martha which is rare for us to like the same. Trying to fall in love with another name.

I have a Martha and struggled to find a name for DD2 tht we loved as much, we went for one of the ones on baskingseal's list in the end, and love it.

Orla, Martha and Elsa are still my top three massagegirl!

Are you sure you can't have Martha? Worth chatting to your friend, maybe she isn't as stuck on it as you!

I know a few faiths born recently.
Nice to see Thea on the lists of those who also like Martha, think its definitely in second place. Just need to persuade OH.
I used to love Ava but there seems to be quite a few near me. Eve a best friend has one.

I said to her it was the only one we could agree on. I'd feel a bit mean saying anymore. You never know she might have a boy! Then that would be sorted but think I need to have some goud alternatives.

The trouble with Orla is that my other best friend had always wanted that name for any daughters she has.
OH likes Una but I'm not sure that's not a bit out there?

Why dont you stick with the name if its what you and dh chose independently of your friend's input? It's a lifelong choice, your friends daughters name has very little long term impact on.

I wouldn't want them to be called the same name. We are life long friends, see each other all the time, god mothers etc, kids will grow up closely together so if hers is a Martha I'd like to find a name I like equally as much.

Hands of Juliet. That is mine! Love. Love. Love. It.

Due to give birth end of this month and our baby will be called Juliet Rose

I agree about not having the same name OP - but it looks like you're giving up on two of your favourites (and there are no actual babies yet with these names! As you say there may be a run of boys, including yours!)

Maybe your friend won't use Martha for the same reasons if you see what I mean!

Eliza
Matilda (Tilda)
Zelda
Klara
Katia
Ruth (Ruthie)

I love Thea but it feels like half a name (sorry.) I'd go for dorothea and call her Thea.

Thanks everyone. Like you say who knows what little people will come out! Just good to have a top 3 rather than a favourite for me. So Martha def still in the running!

I always felt Hannah was very similar to Martha.

I really like Una.

I have two DDs, and now that I will have no more, I wish I had called one of them Sylvia. (Not because of Sylvia Plath, but because when I was a child, it sounded to me like silver, so it sounds to me like a frosty morning looks.)

Dd1 is Martha I think it's a lovely name that suits a little girl a teen and an adult aswell.
Dd2 was harder to find name that me and dh both loved as much as Martha.
On our list was
Hazel
Francesca
Stella
Darcey

In the end we went with Darcey which I think is quite different from Martha but we loved it. Is fairly common now though I think.

Other names I liked but dh didn't:
Hattie
Violet
Thea/Theodora
