i love love love the name Rosa. think it goes beautifully with Margaret. you could also use Marguerite if you prefered.

i like Penelope, but she would inevitably be Penny at some point, which i am not so keen on.

Rosa Margaret
Penelope Anna

Thank you all for the help! Any preferences/ reasons for preferences v welcome!

Rosa's lovely. I also like Penny but not Penelope.

Littlecherublegs Fri 11-Jan-13 13:05:58

I love Rosa Margaret I think its beautiful , is easy to write and to say, flows perfectly and would have special meaning to you. That would be my choice :-)

Permisson Thu 10-Jan-13 22:22:53

Me too! I love Penelope too - would probably be nn Penny, which is sweet. Or Nell.

I know an Iona and it is lovely- also seemingly impossible to shorten!

washngo Thu 10-Jan-13 22:16:58

Really like Iona...

Permisson Thu 10-Jan-13 22:13:25

I love Penelope Pearl!

Or how about

DitzyDonkeySillyMonkey Thu 10-Jan-13 21:29:44

Love Penelope!

Sempersecunda Thu 10-Jan-13 21:23:41

LOVE Rosa Margaret btw!

Sempersecunda Thu 10-Jan-13 21:22:28

I think it's probably the best of the vowel options and fine. You don't often use initials anyway. I went to a uni that gave you email addresses based on initials and that did get embarassing for some so it's always the first thing I think about!

strawberryliv Thu 10-Jan-13 21:21:34

Penelope Margaret Anna T... PMAT? Can't think of anything wrong with that... LOVE Penelope by the way..

washngo Thu 10-Jan-13 21:11:54

Do you think PAT would be a bad initials combo?

Sempersecunda Thu 10-Jan-13 21:07:05

margarita, sorry, rubbish at typing!

Sempersecunda Thu 10-Jan-13 21:04:38

What about Daisy as this was used as a nn for Margaret? Or Pearl as maragrita means pearl in Latin? I'd avoid names beginning with a vowel as you end up with initial PIT, POT etc. Or you could use Margaret but add another middle name too so that you don't end up with PMT?

washngo Thu 10-Jan-13 21:04:24

Really like Lyra but dh not so keen. He is sort of ok with another suggestion of mine which is:
Rosa Margaret

Doilooklikeatourist Thu 10-Jan-13 21:00:08

Register her as Margaret Penelope , and use Penelope as her name .

reddaisy Thu 10-Jan-13 20:54:55

Get new friends grin

mellowcat Thu 10-Jan-13 20:52:01

Penelope Isla or Penelope Lyra

washngo Thu 10-Jan-13 20:50:11

Thank you reddaisy! Love orla but it has also just been used by a good friend!

reddaisy Thu 10-Jan-13 20:44:59

And Penelope Anna is very nice too!

Baby girl due in march, dh and I have only been able to agree on one name which is Penelope. I'd love to give this baby the middle name Margaret after my grandmother who recently died, but that would give her initials PMT which I don't like. So here is our current shortlist:

Penelope Anna

But I'd like to make the list a bit longer! I absolutely love the name Una but recently was used by a family member, so anything similar might be nice too!
