Boys names are so hard. We like unusual names but not too unusual. we have seemed to favour surnames which can be used as first names. Which of the two is better? Rafferty or Prescott.

Not Prescott - I will never get the image of John Prescott with a raw egg sliding down his face out of my mind. I believe his secretary described shagging him as having a wardrobe falling on her with the key still in the door. Do you really want those connotations for you son.

Sorry if that's a bit harsh, but it is what leaps into my mind. In a few years it will all be forgotten though.

Definitely rafferty, please not Prescott.

Not fond of either, sorry - but Rafferty is at least use-able, I guess, and I don't think Prescott is.

Haha...that's too funny. I also had reservations about Prescott because of
John Prescott.

Any unusual boys names suggestions would be gladly appreciated also!

Rafferty definitely better

Prescott is awful purely because of the John Prescott association!

I'm not that keen on Rafferty but agree that it's use-able!

Dexter, Preston, Tyler, Cooper, Davis

Not keen on Rafferty or Prescott for the same reasons others have given.

Rafferty is a bit wet.

If you like surnames then pick a strong one

Rafferty is lovely!

Rafferty was tops on our boys list, just found out its a girl so we won't be using it now!

I love Rafe and Rafferty!! Not Prescott, it not only has the negative association with John Prescott, it is also quite a hard-sounding name, not a pleasant name to the ear...

Garrett

DessieLou · 05/01/2013 04:32

Ooooi Garrett, good suggestion! I don't like either, I'm afraid but would go with Rafferty if I had to. How about greyson, Everett, Fletcher (love this!), Ambrose?

WildEyedAndHairy · 05/01/2013 05:11

I like Rafferty but Prescott - what ThisIsMummyPig said.

Garrett and Everett are better than Prescott.

Addison, Cooper, Edison, Ellis, Gilbert, Parker?

I wasn't sure of the spelling, there are a few variations, anyways Ryley means courageous. I have no idea why I am suggesting this name, it just popped into my head.

There's a character in an Iain Banks book called Prentice, which is a bit like Prescott. Was vaguely considering for DS2 but wasn't sure about it being too like "The Apprentice".
