That's kind of it really...I love the name Isla but keep hearing that it's become very popular. Any views or alternatives?

Very. But it is beautiful.

Yes, very popular. Is of this era, so will likely date. But that's not important to a lot of people.

My DS is Ayla, pronounced the same as Isla.
she is in her 20's.

Are you Asian vintage? I have a friend with a daughter who spells it that way, also in her 20s and they are Asian.

Very. I know an Isis which is lovely. Very different meaning but similiar sound?

I know an Isis as well. she would be about 11 now. It's beautiful.

I always wanted Elsa for a girl but I only had boys. Elsa is gorgeous - very elegant and timeless, and not at all over-used.

Oh no, disappointed to hear it's popular...Isla is currently top of my list! I've only met one Isla and she was my age so maybe it varies by area? Names don't have to be massively unusual for me, but I do like them not to be very popular.

What other names do you have OP?

It's very popular here. But it is nice!

Like it. Never met one round here (big northern city) so these things can be quite localised. Hardly top ten, so if you like it go for it!

Very popular - here in NE England and we met two on holiday put of about ten kids. It's a really nice name that's why!

Thank you for your comments. I also like Ottilie (Otti) for short and Orla.

It's become one of those names like Paris, Charlie, Evie (etc) were in their time. Very popular spike then they seem to fade a bit. So I suppose it depends on whether you want to use it soon? Ie are you currently pregnant? In a few years time, it might not be so popular.

Where did you hear Ottilie? I've never heard of that before! It's quite sweet.

very, in Scotland . Not sure about elsewhere

I have an Orla, good choice. Otti is lovely too.

Very popular in London in the last 2 or 3 years. I know three under 3 yrs. it is very pretty, though.

I think we're settled on a short list of either Isla, Ottilie or Orla - baby due in January. Any middle name ideas?

Isla is apparently very popular now but I've only met one and that was years ago. My orthodontist was called Isla.

I'm in a small town on Southwest coast, very very popular. Several in my DD's ballet class and more in her nursery.

I know one Isla, lovely name (she's about 5/6). A good friend of mine has a Myla, a name I'd never heard before and I like equally.
