Ha ha ha "Maybe it would make a nice middle name? "
Middle Earth more like. You better hope she's an Elf, not a Hobbit, Orc or Dwarf. Her Elven sister could be Galadriel?

BTW Is your house called Rivendell - it's the most popular (last friendly) house name in the UK?
And 'The Hobbit' film is out in 4 days, so everyone will know her age!

Galadriel makes me think of a tall ship

My Welsh friend is called Awen, which seems much nicer.

Yes, exotic, Tolkien based the name on the Welsh name.

I love it, but a life time of "oh Tolkien" would put me off.

A name I have loved aswell which has a similar feel is Elowen -Cornish meaning Elm Tree smile Perfection

Lotr definitely the first thing that springs to mind. Beautiful name, though. We have a lovely neighbour called Arwen.

We have an Arwen! In eight years only two people have made the LOTR connection. Everyone else just asks if we are Welsh! I was worried about it but she is a fairly minor character amongst many and most people just don't remember all the names. So go for it!
