Baby boy name nn. Quinn - thoughts?

squoosh Tue 04-Dec-12 14:47:06

Irish surname.

Merrycuckingfistmas Tue 04-Dec-12 14:48:19

I wouldn't choose it for my son but its not a bad name, I prefer Quinn.

AlphaBeta82 Tue 04-Dec-12 14:49:46

Quinn would be the name we would use the most. DS1 has quite an unusual name which would match this...

squoosh Tue 04-Dec-12 14:50:27

Reminds me of Derek Quinlan too. Not a good thing.

tammytoby Tue 04-Dec-12 14:51:48

I love the name Quinn and think that Quinlan would be a great full name!

sonniboo Tue 04-Dec-12 14:54:39

Great name - cool, strong and underused. Quinn is a great nickname.

ohfunnyface Tue 04-Dec-12 14:56:57

Love it- I know a Quinlann who is Quin for short- I think it's a lovely name.

MrsBungleBear Tue 04-Dec-12 14:57:29

It's a lovely name.

evamummy Tue 04-Dec-12 15:00:45

Just googled it and apparently it means 'fit' and 'strong' smile.

Love the nickname Quinn - cool and a great initial!

bigbluebump Tue 04-Dec-12 15:05:01

I like Quinlan - great name. I know a lovely Quinn so like that too.

ah glad I'm getting lots of positive comments as I LOVe this name and it is the only name DH and I agree on - and I am absolutely convinced I am having a little boy.

CheerfulYank Tue 04-Dec-12 15:17:08

I like it, go for it! Of course I'm American and we're not bothered by something being a surname. It's nice!

Lebkuchenlover Tue 04-Dec-12 15:27:51

Great name, lovely meaning and Q is an awesone initial!

Rhubarbgarden Tue 04-Dec-12 19:55:21

I really dislike it.

RightUpMyRue Tue 04-Dec-12 19:56:39

Like it lots.

WhatALark Tue 04-Dec-12 19:58:38

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the name!
(It's my nephew's name, so I may be biased. He's only ever 'Quinnlan' when he's been naughty, though. The rest of the time, he's Quin).

ISeeThreadPeople Tue 04-Dec-12 20:07:14

The main problem I have with 'Quinn' is that it looks like Quim. I just can't read it as anything else.

SleighbellsRingInYourLife Tue 04-Dec-12 20:18:51

So dreadfully awful.

Superfly Tue 04-Dec-12 22:05:29

Quinn is my maternal grandmothers surname, and Quinnlan was my neighbours surname. So, to my ears it's a surname, not a first name.

jidelgin Tue 04-Dec-12 22:35:53

Love it! and Quin for short sounds ideal.

RooibosWithMilk Wed 05-Dec-12 15:53:18

I know one Quinlan - a girl - although when I first saw the name written down I assumed it was a boy. It seems to suit her!

rachel234 Wed 05-Dec-12 18:20:22

Quinn is a lovely boys name - I know a Quentin who goes by Quinn. Quinlan is also nice.
