Think we have decided on Hunter Isaac and my OH surname is Jukes. Isaac is from my dads side xxx

Opinions x

Other first names in the shortlist are Gabriel, Xavier, and Xander

Xxxx

Congratulations!

I really like Isaac, Gabriel, and Xavier but I'm afraid Xander and Hunter just aren't for me. You can't please everyone though and so long as you and your DP are happy then that's what matters! It's just that Hunter sounds very American to me and I also don't like that sort of hyper-masculine name.

Thanks ladies! My OH family has fairly unusual names and he did want something very strong and masculine sounding xx

As you say tho us ladies are not bound to agree on everything xx

I posted this on another thread about Hunter. DH has it as a middle name and has loathed it his whole life. He was mocked at school no end when the other boys discovered it, and he cringed on our wedding day when he had to give his full name in front of all our friends. He now leaves it off pretty much everything apart from passport applications.

But then to be fair, he really isn't a Hunter kind of guy. It's just one experience.

I thought it was really cool when I met him but he absolutely vetoed it as a middle name for either of our ds's

Opinions?

Well personally, I can't understand the appeal of Hunter, it's such a violent name.

My preference would be for Gabriel Isaac, or even to use Isaac as the first name, both far superior names.

I like all your other names a lot in any combination but not Hunter, sorry! For me it isn't a pleasant sounding name but life would be boring if we all had the same taste wouldn't it!

Hunter Isaac sounds good, but don't call him Isaac Hunter (it's rude!)
Congratulations :)

Sugar, that made me do a lol.

I too prefer Isaac to Hunter, although Hunter is pretty cool, in a Gladiator kind of way.

Xavier's well sexy.

If you love the name Skylar for your dd and Hunter for your ds, then that's great and you should use them. I think Hunter is a great name and makes a refreshing change from all the Jacks, Charlies and Harrys imo.

How dull if we all had the same tastes and chose the same names Smile. We should be happy that we all choose different names for our children!

I like Hunter but I love Gabriel. Slightly biased though as my Gabriel is 20mo.

Hunter is a kind of wellie, but Isaac is very nice.

Not keen on Hunter either, it sounds a bit aggressive [sceptical] but I'm more of a traditional name person...... as everyone says names are very personal......

Hunter's not to my taste at all, sorry. A friend has just named her little boy Hunter and the almost universal reaction has been to say that at least he can use his middle name in the future. I do, however, really like Xander Gabriel.

Hunter is a hideous name. Why would you name your child a word which essentially means kill?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/12/2012 15:01

Isaac and Gabriel are both lovely. Hunter, imho, is horrible.
