I posted the other day about the trouble we're having choosing a girls name with our surname of Bll. [http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/1620223-Help-with-choosing-a-girls-name-with-surname-have-come-to-a-stop]

Well, we've now decided that we're going to double barrell with my maiden name. With that in mind, please could you let me know your thoughts and whether the names below are useable with the extra surname in between - e.g. we couldn't use Lily and Molly with just Bll as too many 'L' sounds and Bea Bll sound silly. Or would you still steer clear of some of them?

Lilian/ Lily Darby-B

Molly Darby-Bll
Beatrice Darby-B

Annie Darby-Bll
Erin Darby-B

I think you're overthinking it all.

Once someone is called somethgin, that name then 'works' as it belongs to someone.

I come across at least 30 new names every day, I never think 'oh that name really doesn't go with that surname'.

I'm working on an assumption that I've made that the name is Darby-Bell. That sounds very nice to me.

Don' take this the wrong way, but a 2-syllable first name sounds too reminiscent of 'Mini Baby Bel' - maybe that's just me? In any case, I'd avoid names like Annie, Lily and Molly.

(Of course, the name could be Ball, which renders what I'm saying as useless!)

~~Thinking of sequence: what's wrong with Lily Bell???~~

Erin Darby-Bell is probably the better option because it avoids the problem that I've mentioned.

You know, I'd be able to help a lot more I you'd reveal your name. Please PM me if you'd like to.

If the Darby bit is real then to be honest I think you darting out one letter of the other half isn't going to protect your anonymity too much, there's only a few letters that can go in there!

I think they all sound nice actually, I would probably still avoid Molly and Lily, but of you love them then go for it, they sound nice!

overmydeadbody people do comment on people's names, and how well they do or don't go with the surname. Of course it is a consideration!

Er, I think OP was probably trying to avoid coming up in a Google search Hmm

Ha Farrow didn't really think about a google search! Whoops!

Lilian and Beatrice. I think you need a substantial name in front of that surname as it is a bit of a mouthful (that isn't a bad thing but does need to be taken into consideration).

Assuming you are going to pronounce Beatrice 'Bee-a-triss' rather than 'Beer-triss'.
