I like the name Marigold but it would completely get associated with a pair of gloves, as a result I wouldn't use it. Actually, I initially think of the song Marigold by the Foo's but not many others would.

Willy, Dick, Fanny, Gaylord

sorry, not even nice...

I liked the name Delilah for DD2 but I was shot down on MN by claims that she would never live down the Tom Jones song, and also the original Delilah in the bible allegedly wasn't very nice.

The name we chose in the end is often one of those love/hate names on here- and I strongly suspect it will be mentioned on this thread. You can't win! grin We love it though.

Nora - always hear it attached to a swear word

My favourite ever girls name though sad

Delilah does have a nice ring to it, it just sounds pretty and nice spoken, song or no song.

I am struggling with the name Heidi. It's a name that I have loved since my childhood but I married a man with a Germanic surname and I can just imagine the comments.

Imogen - that girl who had an affair with Ryan Giggs ruined it

There's a woman in our local co-op called Myra, when you see it in isolation, its not an unpleasant name,
but you'd never, ever, ever call a child that...

LastMangoInParis Thu 22-Nov-12 21:50:10

Who on earth would use that name apart from a made up character in Little Britain or something? confused

Jezebel - I thought it was pretty as it sounds like Isabel! (2 Jezebels in the Bible, one's a whore other's a witch...)

Lucas - mucus

Lydia - chlamydia

Levi (jeans)

x-posts with guano.
Yes, Myra second only to Adolph.

Dennis has some fairly unpleasant associations too.

And I wonder how Jimmy will fare in future.

Orla- used to love that name, then there was a big brother contestant called it. So now out of bounds cos it just reminds us of her.

chocolateicecream Thu 22-Nov-12 21:55:41

Oh, Jimmy will take a while to come round again.

LastMangoInParis Thu 22-Nov-12 21:57:44

Overpriced yummy mummy bags put the kaibosh on Orla from over here.

I don't actually like any of the names I listed but have seen them all come up on baby name threads.

ErmahgerdBlahdyCold Thu 22-Nov-12 22:25:28

I love the name Judas, no way I'd ever use it though!

LastMangoInParis Thu 22-Nov-12 22:34:58

I quite like Ebenezer.

Hermione. It will only ever be Harry Potter now.

GoldPlatedNineDoors Fri 23-Nov-12 09:10:49

Stella. Love the name, but people will think of the lager forst and foremost.

Lenore -probably my favourite version of Eleanor/Leonora etc, but even worse than Flora for branding issues.

hjtunny Fri 23-Nov-12 15:00:21

Ella - because it is a suffix for the names of illnesses SalmonELLA, LegionELLA, VaricELLA, RubELLA etc
