Thoughts on the name penny..

DisappointedHorse Mon 19-Nov-12 18:43:03

I love it!

curiousgeorgie Mon 19-Nov-12 19:09:00

I love it too...

And it makes me think of the 'Oh Penny' toys of my childhood grin

NoToastWithoutKnickers Mon 19-Nov-12 19:09:41

I love it!

Sorry, just realised my post is identical to DisappointedHorse blush

I have a very beloved relative called Penny (Penelope, but she likes people to shorten it). It is a beautiful name.

BunnyLeBOOwski Mon 19-Nov-12 19:11:21

Knock knock knock. Penny?
Knock knock knock. Penny?
Knock knock knock. Penny?

HousewifefromBethlehem Mon 19-Nov-12 19:12:25

Knock knock penny!

Knock knock penny!

From the big bang theory. That's all I'd think of!

IceNoSlice Mon 19-Nov-12 19:12:32

Like it. Pretty, reliable, popular, bright. A 'head girl' kind of name. Or could that be because the head girl at my school was called Penny grin

I do like it though.

lollypopsicle Mon 19-Nov-12 19:59:32

I like Penny too but worried about the 'spend a penny' connotations.

stargirl1701 Mon 19-Nov-12 20:01:58

Big Bang Theory.

barleysugar Mon 19-Nov-12 20:04:02

Very biased here, but I love it!

Anonymumous Mon 19-Nov-12 20:06:15

It's a bit cheap. blush

It's really sweet, but I think I would go for Penelope and use Penny as a nickname.

Alisvolatpropiis Mon 19-Nov-12 20:17:18

I agree with TidyDancer.

MaryAstor Mon 19-Nov-12 20:53:20

Penny is a jolly PTA mum with a sensible bob and a mock-wrap top from Next who always has a handy-pack of tissues in her bag.

I think it is quite wrong for a little girl. And also horrid.

Penelope is ok.

TwllBach Mon 19-Nov-12 20:54:35

Thumbs up from me grin

Kelerina Mon 19-Nov-12 21:17:29

Find a penny, pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck

YDdraigGoch Mon 19-Nov-12 21:20:55

Agree with TidyDancer. I love Penny as a nickname, but it is a nickname, not a name. Would go for Penelope and shorten it. I also know a grown up Penny who is very head girl-ish, though lovely too!

TwllBach Mon 19-Nov-12 22:04:19

<pump mawrs YDdraigGoch> grin

PurpleGentian Mon 19-Nov-12 22:10:12

Agree Penny is better as a nickname for Penelope.

And I could never think of Penny as a jolly PTA mum after watching all of Big Bang Theory many many times.

YDdraigGoch Tue 20-Nov-12 12:46:27

Siwmae twllbach!

Jusfloatingby Tue 20-Nov-12 14:01:38

I like it. It has a kind of Enid Blyton vintagey feel to it. (Definitely not a bossy PTA type at all.)
