It's not a name I particularly like, but I think it's a perfectly good choice.

My next-door neighbour was called Aubrey, and he was lovely so lots of positive associations.

Well on teen mom there is a baby girl called aubrey, its quite a sweet name but i do think of it as a girls name.

It's always been a boys' name. I have a dear friend Aubrey in his mid 30s - he's lovely.

It is DH's middle name - he hates it

It's the shortened form of Auberon/Oberon.

It's a bit ethereal.
Conjures up someone in a smoking jacket quoting Noel Coward to me.

Persephoneplum - no, I'm aware it's Aubrey and not Audrey. It's still a girls name. The 2 I know are girls and theres a singer called Aubrey O Day and a baby on teen mum is called Aubrey.

In fact, if you google Aubrey it's predominantly girls.

It's a boys' name. It always has been, although people have relatively recently started using it as a girls' name, posibly because of the US fondness for names like Bree and Audrey. I knew two elderly Aubreys - it's not my favourite name but it's a proper choice.

If it is being used for girls, then to some it must be a unisex name (though as traditionally it is "King of the Fairies" I do find that very odd).

I do not think it has fully transitioned to unisex in the UK though.

In America, Aubrey is commonly used as a girl's name. This doesn't mean that Aubrey is a girl's name. It's not, it's a boy's name that Americans use for girls. I have heard of American girls called Graham ffs.
I have never heard of a British female Aubrey.

I like it. It was also the name of a brilliant cartoon when I was little !

badtime such a salient point about girls being called Graham etc in America. I chuckled.

I like Aubrey...on a boy OP. The rapper Drakes first name is Aubrey. He's a man.

LOVE this name, we watched Master and Commander today (Cpt J. Aubrey) and I was saying to DH if our next DC is a boy I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this name!!

It's perfectly acceptable as a girl's name. There's a beautiful older children's book called 'Love Aubrey' which is about a girl.

I really like it and much prefer it for a girl than for a boy.

There were only 11 female Aubreys born in the UK in 2011 but then there were only 21 male Aubreys so not that different.

In the US Aubrey ranked at number 20 for girls last year but hasn't made it into the top 1000 for boys since 2002 when it ranked at 938.

So I think it's transitioning into far more of a female name really.

Well it is a boy's name but not one I would give to a boy of mine, that's for sure.

For a boy fine, a good classy name. For a girl oh dear God no, just marks you out as a rather stupid person.

Hmm really not keen on it

Wasn't the character in nuts in may called Aubrey? Tim Spall played him.
It's not a name I'd choose, mainly because it sounds a bit wet.
