Or a baby Malcolm? Baby Barry? Baby Kevin?

Just thinking about baby names you don't see very often now. Lots of retro/traditional names coming round again...Albie, Eric, Walter, Henry etc but will we ever see a resurgence of this middling names?!!

Baby Bernard anyone???

There are boys at school called Keith and Douglas - I presume they were babies once. Quite recently in fact grin

I know a baby Kevin and a baby Sarah. Lovely!

I have a baby Dave. It's funny.

Tickledyellow Mon 12-Nov-12 20:58:09

I know a little Douglas and a little Dennis. Both rock their names!

grin at creamoftomato

And I used to go out with a Kenneth when I was 14! Was weird then. Weirder now.

Still think Baby Bernard has to be top of the list.

Might start a thread asking what people think about Bernard, Bernie for short. See how serious folk take me.

Leafmould Mon 12-Nov-12 21:12:17

Absolutely love Bernard, nn Bernie. Am I serious enough? Or has my intention to have a Nigel outed me?

JennyPiccolo Mon 12-Nov-12 21:14:13

I always think Colin and Nigel are good dog names.

sonniboo Mon 12-Nov-12 22:12:32

I know a 3 year old Bernard as well as a 9 year old Janet.

ButtonBoo Mon 12-Nov-12 22:14:29

Jenny funny how some names are really associated with dogs. Although my friend has a dog called Kevin. I grew up with a school friend whose dog was Emma and my exboyf had a Trevor.

I know some little Nigels. They are cute. It is steadily used in the Afro-Caribbean community where I live.

ButtonBoo Mon 12-Nov-12 22:15:48

Soniboo a real life Baby Bernard?!!!?! Does he gave rosy cheeks? Don't know why but that's what I imagine. Oooo, and a waistcoat and pocket watch, with a dandy walking cane and monocle?

Eglantyne Mon 12-Nov-12 22:17:15

I know a baby Barry. But it is a kitten though...

cat Mon 12-Nov-12 22:17:34

I want a baby Dave.

Or a baby Clifford.

squoosh Mon 12-Nov-12 22:18:24

Bernard reminds me of one of the grooms in Four Weddings and a Funeral. They're humping away in the hotel room and she just keeps shouting in a very posh voice 'Oh BERNARD!'.

That and Weekend at Bernie's!

I have a cousin called Colin. When he was born we thought we might get used to the name eventually. He's now at high school at I'm still not quite used to it.
It does sort of suit him though - he's a bit old-fashioned.

I also know a toddler named Ian and a baby Sidney, Stanley and Mabel

Baby Derek, anyone?

RobinSparkles Mon 12-Nov-12 22:21:36

I know a child called Barry, I think he's about 4 or 5. It suits him smile.

sparkle12mar08 Mon 12-Nov-12 22:24:38

My two ds's middle names are Malcolm and David. Does that count?!

memphis83 Mon 12-Nov-12 22:30:24

I know a baby Graham and a baby Doug.

MaryAstor Mon 12-Nov-12 22:34:27

I love Bernard. Possibly because it's the name of Alfie's best friend in the Shirley Hughes books, and he's great.

JennyPiccolo Mon 12-Nov-12 22:36:12

Button- I knew a cat called Samantha. Cracks me up every time I think about it.

AyeWhySWIM Mon 12-Nov-12 22:37:19

I have taught a couple of Kenneth's and quite a few Keith's in the North East over the past few years.

nancerama Mon 12-Nov-12 22:43:16

I knew a horse called Kevin. Kevin is no name for a horse.
