What are folks opinions on Marnie?

ninah Sat 10-Nov-12 22:07:24

I like it

I like it, v. Hitchcock. Great choice.

Love it..... still wish I'd used it for DD, 8 years too late smile

BustersOfDoom Sat 10-Nov-12 22:25:03

I like it. My best friend at primary school in the 70s was called Marnie.

curiousgeorgie Sat 10-Nov-12 22:35:30

Love it!

manicinsomniac Sat 10-Nov-12 22:37:53

I'm not keen on it, certainly not as a standalone name. It's also pretty tied to the 70s.

AuraofDora Sat 10-Nov-12 22:39:14

EverybodysSpookyEyed Sat 10-Nov-12 22:43:15

DH hates it unfortunately!

VolumeOfACone Sat 10-Nov-12 22:45:09

I like it. Could grow to love it. Maybe.

CointreauVersial Sat 10-Nov-12 22:45:54

Lovely name, unusual without being weird. I know a 13yo Marnie and it suits her so well.

EverybodysSpookyEyed Sat 10-Nov-12 22:47:04

Is it short for something?

KenDoddsDadsDog Sat 10-Nov-12 22:47:18

I love it. DDs nursery teacher has just called her baby Marnie.

Piffpaffpoff Sat 10-Nov-12 22:50:23

Love it. Absolutely love it.

MaitreKarlsson Sat 10-Nov-12 22:58:40

Hi, this caught my eye as I like the Hitchcock film...but I don't think it's a good name for a baby! The Marnie in the film was sexually abused as a child (her mum was a prostitute), kills one of her mothers clients by accident, grows up to be a thief, then gets raped by Sean Connery in the film. It's a bit like those people who call their daughter Lolita..

TheEnthusiasticTroll Sat 10-Nov-12 23:00:34

Don't like it, in my slightly run down town it's 10 a penny, short for Armani, absolutly dreadful name in my opinion and hundreds of little Marnis running around.

Well I love it.

I think of a frosty Hitchcock blonde (weren't they all) and a book I read as a child 'When Marnie Was There'.

RubyFakeNails Sun 11-Nov-12 03:05:27

I like it. Lots of people haven't seen or know the Hitchcock film so I wouldn't worry about any associations with that.

I think its unusual without being weird and also I don't really have any preconceptions about it. I think it doesn't come with a set type of person, could suit anyone. I would definitely keep it has Marnie not Marni though.

I really like it, it's on my list for a future dd.

Hundreds of Armanis my arse.

Gwennan Sun 11-Nov-12 11:54:22

I don't like how it sounds, sorry.
