We had our 20 week scan and probably having a girl. We had our boys name decided as far as things go it was going to be Eli John. We have a dd alredy called Molly and struggling for girls names. Surname beginning with B. So far we have

Ella (marie middle name)
Alice
Autumn (dps current fav Im not so sure)
Cora
Jessica
Annabelle

Our only reservations about Ella is thats its quire popular top 20 I think. Anyone have other suggestions. We also liked bella but doesn't sound right with surname.

I like to use this list when discussing how popular a name is. It puts ELLA at #18: ELLA (2,783) ELA (126) ELLA-LOUISE (81) ELLA-MAY (61) ELLA-MAE (60) ELLA-MAI (36) ELLA-GRACE (35) ELLA-RAE (9) ELLAH (9) ELLA-JADE (6) ELLA-JANE (6) ELLA-JAYNE (5) ELLA-FAITH (3) ELLA-RUBY (3)

MOLLY is at #35 so, based on that, I'd hardly say it is a dealbreaker: 1,909 baby Mollys born in 2011 compared to 3,223 Ellas. They are both fairly popular; your Molly might meet a few less girls with her name than your Ella but I doubt it will be that noticeable.

You might be interested to know that JESSICA (#7) is actually a lot more popular than Ella while ALICE (#43) and ANNABELLE (#53) are comparable to Molly.

With a sister with a fairly well-used name, I wouldn't pick AUTUMN; I don't think it matches Molly in style or popularity. While CORA is a lot less popular than Molly, it is similar in style and I can imagine a Molly having a sister called Cora. My only problem with the name is that I always think 'apple corer' when I hear it! That's a bit trivial though...

For what it's worth, I love Alice; like Annabelle but much prefer Annabel; don't mind Jessica or Cora; find Ella bit bland because I think its star might be fading; and wouldn't use Cora but would like to meet a little one.

I wouldn't use Autumn as your baby will not be born in the autumn, will she?

For what it's worth, I'd name Molly's sister something like:
Grace, Abigail, Phoebe, Georgia, Harriet, Louisa, Rose, Sophia, Lucy, Hannah, Imogen, Florence, Amber, Rebecca, Laura, Victoria, Zoe, Amy, Clara, Nancy, Katie, Sarah, Rachel, Flora, Beatrice, Serena, Susannah, Juliet.

From your list, I would use Molly & Alice or Molly & Annabel(le).

Sadly, Molly & Jessica makes me think of the tragic Holly & Jessica.

I have a Jessica so I'm biased but actually, I love Autumn, beautiful and a bit different. I've never met one anyway. I also love Cora and Annabelle.

Alice and Ella are nice enough but I much prefer your other four.

DD is Evie Molly Ella and DC2 if a girl will currently be Lydia or Annabel Alice Kate, so I think your name choices are good lol! I know a Molly with sister Kitty Grace which I think is cute. Don't fret the top 20 thing, there still aren't that many about. Like Cora from your list too.

I know a Molly with a sister named Poppy - I like that combo. I can't really add anything more as Gwennan has offered stirling advice.

The 20-week scan is so exciting, isn't it? Good luck to you!
