Hi all,

Any opinions on the name Joel? I love it but worried it may be a bit old fashioned....

Like it, don't think it's old-fashioned at all, it's timeless and classic.

I hate it, but mostly because in my accent it just sounds horrible (sounds like Joh), unless I make a real effort to say it properly. Also hate Noel for the same reason.

I like it. I know a couple. One is pron Jole and the other is Jo-Ell.

I dislike saying it. I have a nephew with this name. It feels an awkward sound to make. Can't explain properly but the 'owlll' sound is just not pleasing to me.

I know 2 Joel's. I wouldn't choose it but each to their own!

Love it! We can't use it for various reasons but otherwise would be def on my short list. Especially as our surname begins with a J so would be a classic name combo [sob]

I love it! Know a baby Joel, and one in Year 10. It always makes me think of the cricketer Joel Garner, which is no bad thing!

It's lovely, I only know one, he is my 22 year old nephew and he is the most lovely young man I have ever met. Just hope DS grows up to be like him. He is so lovely in fact, him and his girlfriend are having DCs for 4 days so we can go away somewhere nice, and he offered!

So to me Joel is a most lovely name.
