Not if you're planning on visiting certain popular tourist regions, where the words "emmet" and "grockle" (not that anyone would call a child "Grockle", surely?) and not-complimentary words for said tourists.

But if your dc can avoid Cornwall (which would be a shame) it'll be OK.

OldLadyKnowsNothing Wed 31-Oct-12 23:09:30

Sorry, are not-complimentary words.

Never read or seen twilight but I am aware it is a character name but didn't really put me off . We had Jacob on our shortlist and the twilight connection really put DH off it just because he's such a main character DH thought it would become really popular .

The Wild Geese is popping into my head.

I'm in west of Scotland and I know an emmett. It sounds like it's spelled, so I dunno what the issue would be, but then I fair enjoy a glottal stop.

Alonglongway Thu 01-Nov-12 00:06:43

Oh yes love Emmett

Nivet Thu 01-Nov-12 12:54:08

I'm a Cornish girl so it would be a no from me, sorry.

LizLem0n Thu 01-Nov-12 12:59:40

I never knew it meant that in cornwall. I knew what Grockle meant though. why two words? do they mean exactly the same thing?

LizLem0n Thu 01-Nov-12 13:01:18

Squoosh, they should have had Sybil become involved with a Robert Emmet type, would have been much more realistickkkkkk

amck5700 Thu 01-Nov-12 13:10:54
