Lucy Daisy Beatrice Flora

I'm 39+2 and we've agreed a boy's name but can't quite get there with a girl's name - there just seem to be too many that we both like. We think our final four names are, in no particular order:

Lucy
Daisy
Beatrice (nn Bea)
Flora

We already have a daughter called Matilda.

What do you reckon? Or which of the four would you most like to be called yourself? I'm hoping that we'll get all defensive over one of the names now and that will answer our question...

Beatrice would be my pick and goes great with Matilda....how about Florence instead of Flora as that would also be fab with Matilda (which is fab btw)

Daisy, because then you will have a song for each: Waltzing Matilda and Daisy Daisy (OK my reasoning may be a little odd but I think they are the same era).

Although Lucy is one of my favourite names ever.

Ooo interesting, thank you - I find myself nodding along that Lucy and Beatrice are the best, so maybe I do have an opinion...! Everlong, Polly would have been on the list if it didn't rhyme with a key family name - love it and was sad to discard.

Flora I love but not as keen on Florence or Flo, and I suspect the margarine connotation may cause a few raised eyebrows in the next generation up - I've taught one, which, for me, has disassociated it from the brand.

I like Lucy best but I think it's having a very popular year, I know 4 all born within the last 8 months. An I only know 6 babies born this year and the other 2 were boys.

Beatrice would be my second choice.

They are all lovely names. My DD is Flora and it suits her down to the ground!

I like Beatrice and Lucie (with the -ie spelling) a lot. Daisy is also sweet, but probably my least favourite of your four (but still very nice).

I like Beatrice - not as common as Lucy or Daisy, and though I like the sound of two-syllable names ending in an 'ie' sound, I'm not entirely sure they're dignified enough for a grown woman (not as a given name anyway, they're ok as nicknames). I heard a woman calling for her daughter Daisy-Mae the other day and I winced involuntarily, it just struck me as a bit sickly-sweet (maybe doesn't help that my cat is called Daisy!).

Also with Beatrice complements Matilda well, as they both have three syllables (if you pronounce Beatrice 'Bee-a-trice' as opposed to 'Beer-trice', anyway) (imagine yourself introducing them - "These are my daughters, Matilda and Beatrice"...).

As regards Flora, though it sounds nice enough, I personally just can't get past the association with margarine. What about Fleur as an alternative?

Flora then Beatrice. Lucy and Daisy are ten a penny and will date dreadfully and have that horrible 'cutsie' vibe which will also date. Flora and Matilda or Beatrice an Matilda are lovely.

Love Flora and Beatrice - they were on the potential list for DD. Daisy and Lucy are still nice choices though. 'Beatrice Flora' (Flora middle name) has a nice ring to it IMO.
