so DH and I have decided we both really like the names Ruby and Scarlett for a girl. We both have a love of the colour red for several reasons and so think it would be lovely to name our daughter (if it is a girl lol!) with a name that means red.

I know Ruby in particular is very popular. I am a teacher but have only met 2 Rubys in the last 8 years and 1 Scarlett so I'm not that worried about popularity.

Which do u think is the nicest of the two names? and what middle names would you put with both?

I would really love Isabelle or Belle as a MN for family reasons but i'm not sure they go with either?

thanks in advance for ur help x

Ruby Isabelle and Scarlett Isabelle both sound nice to me. I know a few kids with both names, although I think Scarlett is less popular.

Ruby is by far the nicer name in my opinion.

I just can't get behind Scarlett. Suppose it's the negative connotations, Scarlett woman and so on.

I love Ruby too but am biased as my beautiful dog is named Ruby, it's much classier than Scarlet.

Like both a lot. Ruby especially. Maybe just wait and see which suits her better?

going against the grain here to say that i prefer Scarlett, much prefer it actually, i think it is more unusual than Ruby.

Scarlett Isabelle is a beautiful name.
