I'm thinking of calling my next daughter coriander, what do you all think?

bigbluebump Fri 26-Oct-12 18:52:28

Reminds me of the Sally Gardner book - great story. Never met a real life Coriander, but why not?

cheeseandmushroomghostie Fri 26-Oct-12 18:53:10

Depends on your surname. If its Green, I wouldn't.

If she's twins they could be Carrot and Coriander. Or Tomato and Basil.
Vegetable names are a bit hippy.

AThingInYourLife Fri 26-Oct-12 18:57:44

Don't be ridiculous.

Minty (short for Araminta)
Flat leaf parsley

Nope, sorry, I don't think herb names is a good theme to pursue.

Sorry, but I'm going to be cruel to be kind.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! People will take the piss for ever and ever. Don't do it.

Our other little girl is called Julia, just thinking of something a bit more exotic to compliment Julia.

DontmindifIdo Fri 26-Oct-12 19:08:18

I'm going to say no. clam is right, lifetime of sniggers when she introduces herself...

DorothyGherkins Fri 26-Oct-12 19:10:06

Corrie. Thats nice.

TidyGOLDDancer Fri 26-Oct-12 19:13:00

<shamelessly marking place>

Need to know the outcome of this one. grin

PickledFanjoCat Fri 26-Oct-12 19:13:20

Julia and coriander sounds whacko!

EauRouge Fri 26-Oct-12 19:14:21

Sounds a bit masculine. How about Coriandrea?

TheDeathAndGories Fri 26-Oct-12 19:16:02

Even anise is better

biscuitracer Fri 26-Oct-12 19:16:35

Never thought of Corrie, that's lovely. If she doesn't like it or can't cope with sniggers from all the Lexis, she can use the nn Annie.

biscuitracer Fri 26-Oct-12 19:18:34

DH thinks its masculine!

biscuitracer Fri 26-Oct-12 19:23:09

Some great suggestions, anise sounds a bit too much like anus tho. grin

I went to school with a Coriander. That was 30 years ago and it didn't seem very controversial. Her sister was called Joanna. If you like it then use it.
