Baby names

Traditional names which have nice NN (boys) please

We like 'sensible' names (i.e. not made up/ chavvy) such as

James (Jamie),
Alexander (Alex),
Oliver (Olly),
Samuel (Sam),
Tobias (Toby),
Jacob (Jake/ Jack)
possibly Lucas (Luke),
William (Billy), etc

as they can all be shortened into nice NN but hubby doesn't like these particular ones or family/friends have them

.. any other ideas please?

We are soo stuck for boys names!

Theres an Edward, Richard, Max, Michael and Ben in the friends/ family group too I'm afraid (honestly!) but I do love your suggestions so far!
I don't think Raphael would go with my other DCs names, which I guess are quite British
sounding?

Sorry - got confused above. I meant Jonathon/Jonny - I see you've already listed Jacob. It is lovely though.

I love Nicky for Nicholas. Maybe I've read too much Mog! DH (who works in The City says its very posh though so wasn't keen for baby DS.

Some of these are fab thanks. Half the problem is there are too many males in our family.. I have 10 uncles and 3 brothers..!

Maximilian - Max
Quentin - Quin
Sebastian - Seb

But imo nicknames evolve naturally and are often not linked to the actual name at all!
