I'm only newly pregnant so not exactly a pressing question, but trying to keep positive so wondering what you all think of our shortlist!

Dexter
Harry
Samuel
Sebastian
Jasper

Seraphina / Serafina
Amelie
Athina
Tallulah

Middle name will be James for a boy, but no idea for a girl! (Unless James works, as traditional in our family)

We already have a Matilda...

DessieLou Wed 24-Oct-12 16:58:28

Some lovely names (loving Matilda, too!) but my vote goes to Seraphina and Jasper. Congratulations and good luck! smile

WingDefence Wed 24-Oct-12 16:59:27

Dexter makes me think of that serial killer tv programme <shudder>

I really like Harry, Samuel and Jasper and love Sebastian, which I actually suggested to my DH this morning but he said made him think of posh public school toffs in Brideshead Revisited. so that'll be a no then

Amelie is my fave of the girls names but really like Athena too as I did classics at uni. I'd spell it with an 'e' though.

curiousgeorgie Wed 24-Oct-12 17:07:21

Thanks... I put an E and changed it to an I and thought it looked wrong! smile

Seraphina with Athena a close second for the girls names. I went to school with an Athena, only one I've ever met.
Love love love Jasper!

Love Matilda too,great name!

Alisvolatpropiis Wed 24-Oct-12 17:13:37

Congratulations btw smile

birdofthenorth Wed 24-Oct-12 17:22:53

JAsper and Talllulah my raves but not mad keen on your girl's selection, sorry. Big congrats though!

birdofthenorth Wed 24-Oct-12 17:23:50

faves, even!

TenthMuse Wed 24-Oct-12 18:09:35

I really like Jasper and Athena (spelt this way). Seraphina is lovely too, but would worry it's a bit too much. Amelie's ok but a bit overdone now imo, and I've never particularly liked Tallulah.

The other boys' names are fine - nothing offensive, but not inspiring me!

curiousgeorgie Wed 24-Oct-12 21:33:41

I love Jasper... Trying to convince my DH...

baskingseals Wed 24-Oct-12 22:17:22

love Athena and also Athene.

my favourite of your boys' names is Sebastion. congratulations grin

Lillidoll Wed 24-Oct-12 23:07:53

Seraphina is my confirmation name and I love it! Great story if you look up Saint seraphina smile

echidnakid Wed 24-Oct-12 23:11:55

My DH says the exact same thing as wingdefence's OH re Sebastian which has put me off the name a bit. Samuel and Jasper are my faves from your boys list and Athena from your girls list.

My 8 week old daughter is Serafina. Everyone comments on her name. Usually to say how beautiful it is. We wanted a saints name and something unusual and St Serafina (Fina) is the patron saint of where we went on honeymoon. Like Dexter and Sebastian from your boys names.

curiousgeorgie Thu 25-Oct-12 22:13:32

It is lovely spelt with an F smile

I think Cameron James for a boy is nice, as is Harrison James?

I like your girls names, and think you might also like ailsa? And for a cool middle name for a girl how about using jay instead of James (little less mescaline, but still giving a shout out to the family name?

Everlong Mon 29-Oct-12 08:04:20

I love Seraphina. It's beautiful.

Dexter is cute too.

You will probably change your mind 50 times before baby is born though wink

ellesabe Mon 29-Oct-12 22:12:02

Dexter - not keen
Harry - too popular
Samuel - unremarkable
Sebastian - like
Jasper - love!

Seraphina / Serafina - not keen
Amelie - quite nice
