Hi,
I'm 36 weeks pregnant and we still haven't decided on a name for our little boy! Below is our current short list - if anyone would like to give me their thoughts on them or rate them that would be great! Smile We have a double barrelled surname that has the ee sound in it alot hence nothing ending in an ee or y.

Dawson
Felix
Xander or Zander
Finn

Thanks!

Felix is delicious.
Finn is a bit fishy
Dawson is ok, is there a particular reason for this one?
I like Alexander, as opposed to your shortened versions. Alex is probably one of the nicest boys names around.

Awful, absolutely awful. Zander (even with an x) and Dawson are just plain ridiculous.

Zander is a bit fishy too!

Alexander/Xander is lovely, and I like Felix too.

Not keen on Dawson at all - but the others are fine.

Love Felix

How can Zander be plain ridiculous??!!
It's just short for Alexander...and is not unheard of by any means?

If you spell it with 'z' it's a type of fish.

All of your choices seem to be inspired by either Dawson's Creek or Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

I like Felix the best. I like Alexander with Xander as a nickname and Finn short for Finlay.

Dawson - too surnamey, Dawson's Creek
Felix - great, classic Biblical name
Xander or Zander - Xander is OK as nickname for Alexander
Finn - fish

haha, I am worried about the Dawson's creek connection with Dawson but just liked the sound of it as a name and thought that our children won't have even heard of the programme in all probability, it's actually an old English name.
I've never watched Buffy so can't say I know which names are on there.

Thanks for the replies so far - very mixed opinions which I guess is always going to be the case!

Do people think Felix has to many connotations of the cat? That was my only worry with it.

No ditsy, I really think the name Felix has outgrown any cat or cat food connotations. I wouldn't worry Smile

Adore Felix. Sounds great, and no the cat thing isn't a problem for me. Our ds was so nearly Felix but we went for Ned because it went better with our surname.. I'm not mad on Finn as there are loads about at the mo. Dawson sounds quite American but that's not necessarily a problem. Xander doesn't do it for me. Good luck

Well, if you own a cat (like us) you are confronted with the felix cat food associations daily, sorry.

I like Xander or how about Rowan, Quentin or Tristan, all solid names not ending in -ee.

Dawson - too surnamey
Felix - ok
Xander or Zander - I think Alexander nn Xander would be ok, I don't like just Xander on it's own
Finn - lovely, but too popular in the UK at the moment

We have a Felix and a cat! And the cat eats Felix cat food and I can say that, beyond the first few times you tell anyone small minded your ds's name, ie the first few weeks.. It stops being an issue.

Not fond of any of them, sorry - but Dawson is terrible.

I can't say Dawson without doing so in an American accent Smile if it's your favourite though then no reason not to use it only thing is you'd then have 3 surnames as names which may be a bit heavy.
Love Finn, we have a Xander in the family (18mths) and my niece has ringfenced Felix for her son if she has one so I like your list.
I don't think of the cat with Felix, dh thinks of a Bond character so maybe quite cool.

I like Dawson best out of your list

Finn is nice and there are none around here.

Er... wouldn't have said that Felix was a classic biblical name...

It's a good ol' Roman name meaning happy or lucky, though. Best of the bunch.
