They're both great names! I slightly prefer Felix and would only use Theo if short for Theodore.

I love both names and both were on my short list years ago. I ended up with Theo which I still love but would prob go with Felix if you don't want a name that's too popular.

I have a Felix so am biased but i love it! He is such a happy cheeky little chap it really suits him.

I also love Theo too though!

Hah - our baby was born a few days ago and we were deciding between Felix and Theodore! We went with Felix.

These were both on our shortlist too! We went with neither in the end but if I had to I'd have gone with Theodore.

Love both. I have one already, and the other is my secret next choice, although I'm not planning another one:)

Sorry that doesn't help!

Love Felix Smile, i also like Theo but know a couple children with that name so probably wouldn't chose it.

How funny when we had ds1 these were our choices! We went with Theodore but he is known as Theo or Theodorable! He is now 13!!! And doesnt like to be xalled theodorable :(

I know two little felixes and have met a few little theos but when we used it for ds1 he was the only one and in his high school with over 1600 pupils there are only two theos!

I prefer Theodore, nn Theo. - Felix is fine, although, very, very popular.

Love them both but Felix edges it for me.

How about using both, i.e. one as middle name? Theo(dore) Felix or Felix Theo(dore)?

Report
katiecubs · 05/10/2012 19:24

Theo is actually way more popular than Felix - something like number 30 vs. 130 in the names charts!

Report
Ham69 · 05/10/2012 19:37

Er, number 50 actually. Still a lovely name and come across far less Theos than Harrys, Josephs , Olivers, etc

I went with Theodore eight years ago thinking it was uncommon, and now I just keep hearing it everywhere. Grrrr! I still love it, but now I wish we'd gone for something like Theodosius instead! Grin

well i still love it but yes i have been slightly annoyed by its rise in popularity, but as mine is 13 its obvious we thought of it first (smug face) Grin i dont think its that popular, i know a few others in the under 5? age group but not loads. i dont think they will be one of three in their class at school put ti that way!

and it has great nickname potentials :)

If my son had been born a week late instead of five weeks early, he would have been one of two Theodores in his class at school. And yet I had never, ever come across another Theodore (or Theo or Ted or Teddy) in all my life before. More crucially, neither had DH and he's a teacher!

I blame Theo Walcott. Angry
