honest thoughts please!

Holly Willoughby is nicknamed Willy-Booby. That would put me off that name.

Wilbur reminds me of the pig in Charlotte's Web, but I like that book, and that pig.

Willoughby - ok name. Awful cad and bounder from Sense and Sensibility.

Wilbur - ok name. Some pig grin

I don't think I could use these. They're not for a man. More for a little boy.

Willoughby too OTT and surnamey.

Do you like William, Wilson, Wilfred?

poppydaisy Wed 03-Oct-12 22:05:05

I'm not keen on any Wil/Will name due to the Willy teasing potential, sorry.

Willoughby, a cad and a bounder
Wilbur, one of the most ludicrously middle-class names I've read on here.

I have a 5 year old Willoughby, though he is 'Will' most of the time.
He has a wicked little twinkle and could well be a cad and a bounder (though I'll work on that obviously).
I was iffy about his name a long while after his birth - worried that it was too pretentious - but it's just 'him' now. And so rare that it seems to come under 'unusual!' rather than 'wanky'.

And he calls himself 'Willy' for the sheer wicked joy of it.

If I had to choose between those two names I would choose Wilber. Willoughby is a bit ott for me (sorry Velvetbee).
If I heard Willoughby I would think it was a girls name 'Willowbea'

TBH I am not a fan of Wilber either.

It would depend on your surname too.

If I really hated someone, I'd wish those names on them. For an innocent little baby, there are so many lovely names to choose from...

Both bloody awful. Ideal though if you don't actually like the child and want it teased.

OpheliasWeepingWillow Thu 04-Oct-12 01:57:55

Wilbur is lovely and Willoughby was that horrible cad from S&S.

TheCatInTheHairnet Thu 04-Oct-12 02:09:14

I am so stealing the name Willoughby from this! For my puppy!!!

Honestly? neither is one that I'd use. I'll tell you what is though. Duncan.
