we're looking for a short, feminine name which would suit a child and adult.
So far we've got....

Holly, Ella or Rosa. Which is the nicest? And what middle name would you go for with your favourite?

Thanks in advance!

Holly Rose sounds nice. I think you need a 1 syllable name after 2.

I prefer Rose but they are all pretty I think.
Rosa is a really common Hispanic name where I live so those assumptions may be made later on in life......depending where she lives.......worth knowing

Meh. There will be loads in her class. She'll end up with her last initial as a permanent suffix. They're sweet names, but incredibly popular.

Thanks everyone, most votes for Rosa then! I think Rosa Pearl is lovely.

badger understand what you're saying but we want to go for a name we love as a priority over trying hard to make point of being different. Where it ranks is not a concern to us.

Really like them all. Please don't go for Ella May though as its very popular being screeched everywhere around here, usually with an expletive or two. Smile

I like Holly, then Rosa. Don't really like Ella.

I like Holly best, then Rosa.

I think a long middle name with either, but not starting in a vowel for either.

Report
TenthMuse · 12/09/2012 13:27

Definitely Rosa - simple, beautiful and by far the least popular.

And as for being incredibly popular, to put this into perspective, I know loads of children through various clubs and schools and I have a year 7 and a year 12.

In all of them I know 2 Ellas, 3 Hollys and no Rosas.

I love Rosa, and am fighting hard to have it on the list for a theoretical future DD2 (struggling though - DH is a massive Bond fan and can't get past Rosa Klebb...)

Not really a fan of the other two, though I prefer Ella to Holly. But Ella always feels a slight non-name to me, as surely it just means 'she'?

HolyParalympicGoldBatman · 12/09/2012 13:46

I like Holly best, with a longer middle name;

Holly Elizabeth
Holly Evangeline
Holly Victoria
Holly Isabella

I know a couple of little ones called Holly, loads called Ella/Ellie, but none called Rosa.

All pretty in their own way. I like Rosa though, as the other 2 are a bit common/over used at the moment. And PLEASE don't do Ella May. Common as.

Rosa is beautiful, a friend has called her baby this, such a nice name :)

Holly is great, Rosa nice. Really dislike Ella - very very popular and doesn't sound like a proper name to me.

Agree about Ella May!
