Lara was my favourite name but I have suddenly gone off it - not sure why. Sara seems more beautiful and unusual to me - I don't know any small Saras.

Iona, we were planning to pronounce it Yo-na. Is this correct? I think this is how I've heard it pronounced before, similar to Iola and Ioan. We live in Wales, and are both half welsh. I should know this, but IawnCont mentioned that she pronounces it Yonna. She's probably correct. We don't live in a welsh speaking area of Wales.

I am a Welsh speaker, and in Welsh it's always Yonna. It's not a massive difference to Yo-na, but the stress seems more on the n in the Welsh way. The "yon" is like in "yonder". (I hope that makes sense!)
It's great that you're checking beforehand... I recently met someone who'd given their child the lovely name Iolo, but they were pronouncing it completely incorrectly.
"Oooh congratulations on your son! Have you named him?"
"Yes! Yollow."
"Yollow? Gosh, that's nice. And very unusual. Is it Scandinavian?"
"No, it's Welsh!"
"Really... Oh... You mean Iolo!"
