Rufus
(17 Posts)This is currently our number one choice for potential DS. But my one concern is that it lends itself to the nickname 'Doofus'. Is this likely do you think?
I would be concerned that it's a dogs name or v posh. But then I don't mention my potential names because of other people's opinions
My train of thought...
I knew a lovely boxer dog called Rufus.
But then there's Rufus Sewell and Rufus Wainwright. Also lovely.
Oh and Rufus Hound.
'Doofus' never even crossed my mind. Honest. I like Rufus!
I know a lovely little Rufus, he's 2. I like it.
My son has a cats name apparantly
I love Rufus, very cool.
Love it!
I've only heard "doofus" in an American context.
Kitty - is your DS called Tiddles?
No, he's called Fluffy.
Kitty - I think I know what your DS's name is, and I love it, but my DH vetoed it.
Generally positive responses so far, that's a relief! I'm sure I overthink things. DH thinks so.
He's Felix ;)
Thought so - cool name!
I don't like it, sorry. Think its ridiculous. Can't pinpoint why, but just makes me snort, can't take it seriously.
Personally, I wouldn't make the 'doofus' association!
I absolutely love the name Rufus - go for it
I used to have a Rufus dog, but I don't object to it for a boy's name.
I like this. What would you use as a middle name?
p.s. why does everyone always think Rufus is a dog's name? I'm confused!
I love it, possibly because I adore Rufus Wainwright so I associate it with being ridiculously talented and very beautiful
