Thank you. Warren was my grandads name. I know the older names are comming back, so I was just wondering wether it'd work. I thought it could be Ron for short?

I love Hugo, really like Barnaby, hate Warren, think Rowan is a girls name, and think anyone called Oliver must have very boring parents Grin

Warren is fine, but Ron I don't like as a NN (sorry)

Honestly they all soud lovely names for someone else's DC (as in wouldn't choose them myself but wouldn't raise an eyebrow at them either).

Oh, just saw your post about Warren being you granddads name, sorry, didn't mean to offend Blush

I like Rowan, the others not so much.

I love them all apart from Warren. I went to school with a Warren and I'm 38.

I have a Hugo so I'm biased.

I thought about Rowan, but a friend has a Rowan and for a while I thought he was a girl so not really that much of a friend!

Use Warren as a middle name.

I like Rowan and Barnaby although that one always makes me burst into song - "Barnaby the bear's my name, never call me Jack or James la la la la la "
(you have to be at least 40 to know what the hell I am talking about here.....) Grin

Oliver - fine

Warren - OK in the middle, but 'what do you call a man with a rabbit up his bum?' joke would make me think twice about using it as first name

Barnaby - lovely

Rowan - lovely, though personally I wouldn't use a unisex name

Hugo - lovely

Tommy-I'm 10 years too young then. Grin

I like Warren, was about to say so even before I read it's your GD's name!

Rowan is lovely too.

Hugo too posh for me, sorry. Too Four Weddings.

Oliver is lovely but they are literally everywhere near me at the mo, it's the number one boys name and showing no signs of stopping!

I never thought Rowan could be a girls name. Glad you mentioned it! I'm not so keen now.

I don't like Rowan and Oliver is boring.

Really like all the others though :)

DH's cousin has a daughter called Rowan - until I'd met her I had assumed she was a boy. I still think of it as a boys name.

Oliver is my favourite, then Hugo.

Warren is more late 30's so not old enough I think to come back. That is my polite way of putting it! But then family ties can trump all that cos it makes it lovely for the people involved.

Rowan appears to be undergoing a switch to female but currently unisex I think. It's lovely, we considered it.

Hugo is fun and Barnaby is cool!! Oliver is very very popular now and not quite traditional enough to make up for it I think.

Barnaby is the nicest, although I do think Oliver is a very sweet name, if a little over-used round these 'ere parts!

Love them all except Warren -- nice as a mn though.

Warren = like Darren, imo, don't like it.
Rowan = girls' name
Oliver - I like it but too over-used - how about Oscar instead?
Hugo - like
Barnaby - love

Warren = nope, definitely not
Rowan = like
Oliver - like but definitely too popular. Waay to popular although lovely.
Hugo - love
Barnaby - love, fabulous!

So either Hugo or Barnaby.

I wonder what nn you would have for Barnaby?? I am not sure if I like Barney...???

BellaOfTheBalls · 07/08/2012 05:21

I know 8 Oliver's born in the last 12 months.

Rowan is lovely but very androgynous; you wouldn't look at it written down & know instantly it was a boy.

Barnaby I wanted for DS2 but was vetoed Sad

Hugo is OK but not my taste. Think it needs a certain class/calibre to pull it off; how posh are you? Grin

Warren - sorry, just no. I'm sure your grandfather was a lovely man but I'm yet to meet a Warren that isn't a complete idiot.

Don't like any of them except for Barnaby, which I really like a lot. If I ever had another boy it could be a serious contender.
