Emily? Lucy? Sarah?

I rather like Emily and of our shortlist (Lucy & Sarah) it is the name that seems less common as I know of none; but I have just been told that it was in the top 3 in 2010's statitics...this can't be right, surely?!
How popular are these names, just out of interest? Thanks for your thoughts

I have an Emily, but she is 18. It was really popular when she was at school but I don't think it is quite as popular now.

There was an Emily at my postnatal group (the baby that is). I hear it's very popular these days.
Sarah is very popular with our generation (mid thirties).
I don't know how popular Lucy is but I love the name.

All the Emilys I know are 20-25 or 70+. I don't know of any young Emilys, but I do know 3 baby Sarahs and 6 baby Lucys. Emily is lovely, unusual but familiar, and classic too. Go for it.

all awful and over used. I have six Emilys, five lucys and far far too many sarahs in my dance school.
Think again. OK for a middle (makes a change from rose and may)

I know far more Emily's than Lucy's or Sarah.

I know you didn't ask but I like them in the following order:

Sarah
Emily

All lovely names.

Emily is very popular. The last available stats say it went from 4th in 2009 to 3rd in 2010. (The results for 2011 will be released this year)

Lucy 21st having gone down 5 places since 2009.

Sarah at 83rd down 9 places since 2009.

Really like the names, but Emily is so popular with the under 5s near us that I've pretty well ruled it out (and I'm not automatically put off names due to being top 100, or even top 10). Know of a couple of Lucys too but not nearly as many.

Don't know any little Sarahs, but know of absolultely loads the same age as me (early 30s).

Emily is quite a popular name. Think is was quite high in the list last year.

DD2 is a Lucy. Was almost an Emily but a friends baby was born just before and called Emily so we changed our minds.

Dont know of any young Sarah's.

Love Sarah. It was close for our third (and final) babe.

I have an Emily. She is 9. She is the only Emily in her yeargroup of 90 at school and always has been right from pre-school.
Her friend is Lucy. She is one of two Lucys out of the 90 in the year.
There are no Sarahs in the yeargroup (but there is one two years above in the school)

For obvious reasons I love Emily. I love Lucy too. And Sarah.

Have you thought about Ethel?

I don't know any Emily's as children and would have called dd, but too close to my name so it's her middle name.

Sarah and Lucy are both pretty but prefer Emily and that it can be shortened to; Emy, Em, Milly, Lily

Three Emilies in my primary school. three Lucies and only one Sarah a few years ago. Several of the staff were called Sarah, though - I know eight adult Sarahs!

We're expecting DC#1 in September and she is a girl - we've got Lucy and Alice on our shortlist, and I'm edging towards Lucy! I love that it means light and I think it's feminine but also a classic.

All beautiful names! Sarah is well past the peak of popularity and Emily is going that way. Lucy has never been a top name. They are all timeless classics so it doesn't matter. Sarah is my favourite but I love the others too.

Sarah is elegant and timeless - have never met a little one and was considering it for dd2. I haven't met a young Lucy either. It's not my sort of name - I prefer Lucia - but i can see that it is cute for a little girl.

Emily is really popular!!!

All gorgeous!

I'd say that, in my area, Sarah is the least popular (I only know 1, she's 9). I know a fair few Lucy's and lots of Emily's. They're all gorgeous though.

My order would be:

Lucy
Sarah
Emily

Emily is definitely really popular, then Lucy is also fairly popular. I don't know of any little Sarahs!

I like Lucy the best of these (love it) but all are nice enough.
