My first association = Anne of Green Gables' best mate. Second, another lovely lady with long black hair: Diana Ross.

Princess of Wales. Or Diana Dors.

Yeah i thought of princess Di as well. Aside from that, though, it's a pretty and classic name. Travels well i think.

Really OP? I would imagine most people would think Princess of Wales.

And then the goddess - of hunting was it?

But also a 20-something lady I know - Diana suits her and you forget about any other associations of the name.

Lady Di of course. I love the name though, but I wouldn't use it for my daughter because of lady Di.

PoW. Now wondering if she ever thought of being Princess of Wales as being a Prisoner of War?!

It's a shame the association is so strong as I love the name but she was so iconicit'd almost be like calling your baby Madonna or Marilyn iyswim

I'm not sure I believe you that Princess of Wales is third on your lost of most memorable Dianas.

It's a nice name but too associated with one person for me to see it objectively.

By the time she is getting older, going to school, etc, I don't think that her contemporaries will think of the POW. Young people who were too young to remember her death don't seem to know much about her.
It is a lovely name and there was never a lot of people naming their children after her so she will probably be the only Diana in her class.

A lovely, polite, very kind, thoughtful, helpful & very pretty young girl - its the name of one of DDs close friends & she's one of 2 that has never been a problem to DD in anyway, always a pleasure to have her round - think I wanted to adopt her at one point Grin

Sweet name, due a revival, I'd say.

But yes, Lady Di springs to mind.

But if you asked my kids, they wouldn't have heard of her.

Princess of Wales and Diana Mosley.

So a dim bulb and a supporter of the nazis. Not really good connotations.
