Does this name sound right?

I can't put my finger on why, but does the name Seth Otter sound a bit odd to you? We're considering it for DC4 but not sure if the 'flow' of it is just a bit jolted. Other DC are Francis, William and Daisy so we've already used up all of our favourite names!

I like Seth but am not convinced by Otter. I prefer Otto to Otter, however, don't think either versions go with Seth. Seth is such a soft sounding name and Otter sounds so much harsher it clashes.

Oops sorry Otter is our surname!

Gosh, that was confusing. Here was me thinking you wanted to give your son Otter as a middle name!

is otter your surname? if not i wouldn't use it. sorry not keen on seth with your 3dc's names which sound classic and well rounded.

How about Ethan ?
I think Seth doesn't flow to well with your surname.

Not Ethan - it sounds too much like even hotter, can't use Miles for the same reason Grin

Ethan and Miles are going on the list of definite no-nos along with Iona and Noah!

I think your tongue is in the wrong place to say Otter when you say Seth - that's why it feels odd.

I think it's to start with a consonant too as it's sound weird with two vowel sounds at the beginning.

What about something like James or Shay gives a similar sound but flows better

James is already used up as one of the DS's middles names otherwise it would definitely be on the list.

Seb Otter (Sebastian)?

You need to change your name from Otter! Sorry... But it is tricky name to match to! I think more regular names will suit it better, Daniel and George as mentioned above are nice.

Grin at Ethan and Miles (h)otter!!! I think George or Daniel would be lovely with your other dc's names. I do really like Seth but not with your surname (sorry). Smile

I totally agree, PullUp, it's a complete pain! I really like the suggestions of Sebastian and George, also Charlie but think that could be a bit twee with Frankie, Billy and Daisy. Decisions, decisions..

Ooh i love it!!

And i have to agree i think Seth Otter sounds no more 'awkward' with your surname than the other DC's names

Daisy Otter
William Otter
Francis Otter
and
Seth otter

We have a harsh surname (think the infamous dog from Eastenders) and find it extremely hard to match up names......

I think it does sound odd tbh. I really dislike the name Seth too. Your other children have lovely names and Seth sounds all nasty and hissy compared to them imho.

Francis, William, Daisy and Barnaby still gets my vote - and Barnaby Otter sounds lovely. :)

Laurence Otter
Bartholomew Otter
Matthew Otter
James Otter
all work too.

DH is David, obviously MIL agreed that it's a nice sounding combo Wink

Charlie and Barnaby are probably favourites at the moment, along with Sebastian. Thanks!
