need help - baby coming

DH is French and we have quite different ideas re names for DD. she is coming tmr and so need all the help we can get. I love unusual names and have an arabic background - he wants something long that has a short version.
Agnes, Ines, Amalia, Leila, Lola or Josephine are the only ones we both don't hate but we are not really sure on any...

Thoughts welcome...

It's 5 am and am going in for the c-section in a few hours. Can't sleep and still going round in circles with names.
Am trying for some Arabic ones, Amara or Amira, Kalila, Lamia, Dilara and not Arabic but could be shortened to Leila- Leilani- which is Hawaiian apparently...
Am trying to stick to DH's apparent desire for three syllables. Which he could have told me was important many months ago. Arghhh! Plus am nervous.

I have also decided that I love Agnes, but this is the point where he has now decided he is not sure - too short and no nickname, he refuses to acknowledge that Aggie is a nn. Must be a French thing!

Love Ines and Agnes. They were at the top of my list for 7wk old DD2. We settled on Anna in the end. Good luck with your new baby.

Some suggestions:
Myriam/Maryam: not too common, I really like it
Sarah: a little too popular maybe
Yasmine/Yasmina: 3 syllables + Arabic

Baby here, very cute. Agnes or inessa...last chance for help. Saw lots of previous posts saying Agnes was ugly but in French you say an-yes not ag-nes. Though in uk she would be Agnes for sure.

I like Agnes. Or Ines, but I think Inessa sounds a bit made up somehow. Although I'm sure it's not.

Does either suit her better? Do you prefer the meaning of one over the other? This is probably how I would decide. Try both out - calling her the names, singing them (!), imagine shouting them up the stairs/across the playground...
