Rupert

I have a Charles and a Wilfred, we re considering Rupert for our third child with alternatives of Hugo or Montgomery.

What do you think? I'm ok with it sounding a bit posh and the bear connection, I'm not sure what it might get abbreviated to though other than Ru, Rupe?

I think it goes well with your other DC names. Of the 3 I like Hugo best but Rupert is more unusual.

Rupert is lovely and goes really well with Charles and Wilfred.

Rupert rocks with Charles and Wilfred. I think Roo/Ru is a nice nickname. Would Pertie work?

Why would you shorten Rupert - it is easy to say Smile.

It's a lovely name, unless your surname is murdoch Grin

I love Rupert!

I love it and was going to use it but it's the abbreviations that put me off. I wanted to use Bert but I'm not sure you can as it seems completely unrelated.

It works really well with your other names as well, go for it.

I really dislike it.

Sorry don't like it at all.
I remember the bear.

Love all 3. But then I'm a bit wanky like that :)

Nope, I'm not a Murdoch and don't have a surname similar to bear either which should help. I'm not sure I will abbreviate it but I'm sure people will - we call my youngest Wilfred but he gets Wilf, Freds, Wilfie and I'm sure there will be more in time.
I know they could be seen as a bit posh/pretentious but I'm ok with that. I was more interested to see if others think they fit with the older two's names.
Thanks.

Rupert is not a particularly easy name to say imo.

Hugo/Hugh are great names.

Oh, I love Rupert, but also Hugo and Montgomery. You have great taste.

I have a Hugo and we love Monty for our next one (who is taking his own sweet time being conceived). I love Rupert too, but DH not a fan so I don't think I'll get to use it. Love it though. He would probably have been 'Rupes' in our household

I like Rupert but the only one I have known was always called 'Rupe' which I don't like as a shortening!

Hugo I like too and Monty but not Montgomery (makes me think of Mr Burns!).

Although I have to be honest and say your names are not my taste rupert goes very well with your other boys

I love Rupert we have a Hugo and if our next due in 2 weeks had been a boy we were set of Rupert.

Rupert just seems a bit much as a name to me. It's just a bit too public school, too hooray - a bit too try hard. Hugo and Montgomery are much nicer/softer.
Plus, Rupert the Bear terrified me as a kid. I had nightmares about him.
