I can't see why not but wouldn't mind people's opinions! TIA.

Would you use Frederick as full name?

I like Frederick Benjamin, or you could go for Freddie Ben, but Freddie Benjamin is one nickname and one "formal" name which don't match quite as well IMHO.

We'd formally call him Frederick but Freddie as nickname, but I thought middle name unlikely to be really used or shortened in everyday use, I can't imagine people calling him Freddie Ben for eg.

:) Frederick Benjamin would be a really nice classic name. Freddie is a great nickname too.

Frederick (Freddie) Benjamin was my boy's name if I had had a 2nd boy! Am having a DD and this will be our last so jealous as won't get to use it! Think it's great!

I think FilterCoffee meant that:

Freddie Ben [Surname] works and Frederick Benjamin [Surname] works

but not Freddie Benjamin as it's a mishmash of styles. I don't think she was advocating you nicknamed your son Freddie Ben. As it happens, I thoroughly agree with her analysis and commend you for picking two lovely names for your son.

My son is Frederick Benjamin! So I hope it works :)

My DS2 is christened Frederick but we all call him Freddie - unless he's been really naughty when he gets his full formal name!

I'm glad to read so many positive comment, actually, as I've never been quite sure it 'works.' It was picked when DS was 6 hours old, after a night with no sleep, when I said he looked like a Benjamin and DP refused to have it. His middle name was always going to be Frederick anyway, so we just flipped the two around, but I still have the odd wobble when I think Benjamin Frederick would have been better!

Oh, and we do call him Freddie Ben from time to time!
