Like both these names but am not keen on Mel or Miri/ Randy as nicknames. Anyone got one that has a better nn?

Dh s ex was Lissa short for melissa. I think it's really pretty and would use it if it wasn't for the obvious reason not to!

I know Melissas known as Millie and Liss.

Miranda is the nicer name IMHO but yes, nice nickames are a challenge. Mimi?

The only Melissa I know is called Melly-Pops. I doubt that helps Grin.

Personally, I think I'd prefer Lissa.

I went to school with two girls called Miranda. They both used Mandy as a nickname.

I am a Melissa and as a child I was called Lissa, Lis, Missa. I have bee Mel since a teenager though! My parents never call me Mel as they don't like it, but my friends always use it. Another Melissa I know was called Mimzy, Mimz or Milly when she was younger. Lots of good nickname potential!

Mindy as a nn for Miranda?

You could always use the ubiquitous Ellie for Melissa.

Miranda is our top choice for DD1, due in April, and preferred nn at the moment is Mimi.

DH hates Mandy, I think Miri is a bit silly, but I think what she'll end up being called by other children is Manda - this is what I imagine small children who struggle with Mi-ran-da will contract it to.

I think Mindy is quite sweet but memories of Mork & Mindy are a bit offputting!

I'm called Melanie, but known at work as Mel and whenever i get a new client i get asked, 'oh is that short for Melissa' Envy NO! DH has taken to calling me Mellie though, maybe that could work. But why pick a name if you want to shorten it?????
