What do you think of the name Julian (for a boy), probably shortened to Jools?

I met a baby Julian the other day. I think it is quite unusual. I've not met another Julian under 30.

This is what our son is named and dh still hasn't came round to the name, it didn't help that when first suggested he asked about other Julians and the only one I could think of was Julian Clary!

Julian Lennon

I really like it.
It's always on my list of potential boys names, but like you I can't get DH to like it.

Julian from the Famous Five.

He was a bit of a power happy knob serious boy though.

I love it as a name.

Name of my oldest brother - and he's a highly successful executive type, probably a bit like Julian from the Famous Five turned out except less prone to discovering dastardly smuggling plots and Nazi spies.

Blush

I'm sure your brother is lovely Trib.

I like it, especially Jools.

Grace - totally agree with your assessment of Julian from the FF. My one lives abroad, which I'm sure the FF Julian could not possibly tolerate except in a Raj/Empire kind of way.

I know of a baby Julian born just earlier this week!

I prefer Julien, I think. Same as I prefer Aiden to Aidan.

I like Julian - classic, strong and not overused. Great name imo.

But I wouldn't shorten to Jools personally.

I know a Julian, he is 19, very handsome, SUPER cool and an ace footballer. He gets shortened to JJ by family and Jules by everyone else
